Why are there Ath*EI*sts? I think, therefore I am.

As to your last question - yes it is human nature to be scared. That's why people are scared of siezing to exist and that's why they invented god(s) to sooth their mortal fears.

I heard you out. Now, what are you confused about? God=Love and many religious denominations believe this so everyone should believe in god? Is that your point? We are scared, so we should believe in god, then we will not be scared? These are the good religious reasons to believe in god? Atheist love, love is an emotion common to most normal people. Example, I don't believe in God, yet I have two children and a wife that I love more than life. I am not scared either, because I don't believe that there is anything to lose after I'm dead, I live everyday without the fear of hell. That is to say, I live my life like there is nothing more important than living, because when it's over, it's over. I fear death only in so much as it means the end of my existence, but I don't fear what you fear most, which is hell. So, in relative terms I am likely less afraid than you being a sinner and imperfect just like everyone else in the world, and love just as much as you do. So, tell me again exactly what advantage religion, as you have described it, affords you over what I believe.

I agree that it is human nature to be scared, and that's part of the reason why people sought to create gods and strict codes of morality: they were scared of nautre, they were scared of death, and they were scared of themselves.

Most people will be religious, or at least spiritual, IMHO, no matter what, for pretty much all of humanity's existence. I've got nothing against that at all. I just have found MUCH more reason to not believe than to believe.

But hear me out: as an atheist, any time that I volunteer to help the needy, any time I say I love you, any time I put my foot down agianst something I don't agree with, at least I'm doing it because I'm honest, and not because I'm worried I'm going to get a cosmic point, or a cosmic check.

Atheists exist because we free have will and creativity. We can interpet life and come up with our own explanations of life. I disagree that it is human nature to be scared. There wouldn't be many atheists if that were true because they'd be respectful to God because they would be scared to wrong him. I'd agree with you if you said that we tend to hate hearing the truth. If the truth is different than what we believe, we have to put down and sometimes destroy the truthsayer. If you don't believe me, then read about Gallileo, Jesus, Buddha, Martin Luther King Jr, Copernicus, etc.

Sure you have a point it is human nature to be scared of what we don't know. But what does that have to do with Why are there Atheists?

There are atheists because they are less afraid of death they don't need that security to live their life's and lets face it those who choose to have that faith are pouring their lives into a believe that if you are good that life doesn't end at death. We are scared to think that this is the end. We need to believe God and heaven is there

There are at least 3,000 different beliefs in a deity on Earth. If only one of them is right, then 2,999 of them have to be wrong. Judging by those odds, its possible that ALL of them are wrong. It strikes me as the epitome of human arrogance to assume that we have a clue as to what an actual "god" might be thinking - we are just humans - it is not possible for us to know everything.

As far as being human nature to be scared, scared of what? Chocolate? I'm not afraid of what I understand, and history gives me a much greater insight into the history of religion, and how it has "gotten things wrong" (not all of it) by mistranslation and all kinds of other factors.

Atheists are real
Gods are fake.
The second statement qualifies the first.
Let me tell you that I am NOT scared of what I don't know.
I am scared of what I DO know - but not THAT scared.
Example - I do know that there will be an earthquake in my particular region very soon. At this point in time, I am aware and a little nervous but I will not be calling on any gods to love me and protect me.

Why are there atheists? Simple, because there are just some people who are too analytical to believe in fantasy after the age of ten. Any more questions?

You and many more people like myself may believe in God, and some people don't. Athiests are simply those who choose to believe that life is not ruled by anyone and are more logical than spiritual.
