in america, science is peer-reveiwed.

(cough) choke, competitor-reveiwed is more precise.
not only do those that compete with you have the option of cutting any scientist down and trashing theories of every kind, but they have anomynitity.
and on top of this, the university in california has a monopoly on who's theories are received and rejected.

i can give you 3 references that have this type of testimony. religion is suppressed because science controls the money purse and the money purse isnt owned by FREE people or the U.S Government. Since when has the U.S. been truly free.
Not in any recollection i know of.

Have you seen how many churches are in our cities, that does not look like suppression to me?

Religion suppressed and is still trying to suppress science, via Intelligent Design or Creationism, because science has observed facts that are contrary to religious tenants.

Certain ideas, like Intelligent Design, are not science they are religion. Science has to work regardless of the belief system of the user. A Buddhist, Christian, Atheist and Jain scientist must all be able to agree on the theory or it is not science. If you drop an object from five feet in a vacuum, the predictions of the scientists of the various belief systems must not vary because of their beliefs.

Science is about knowledge. A belief is something you hold without empirical knowledge. Knowledge exists only if it has been observed.

Now, many believers feel oppressed because they are being taught or their children are being taught facts which are contrary to their belief system. Various theories at various times, such as the theory of celestial motion or the theory of evolution or the theory of gravity have contradicted religious tenants.

Evolution, in particular, has impacted religion because its implications are so deep and so wide for all religions, not just Christianity. There are two Christian issues that are paramount, the first is dinosaurs.

If dinosaurs existed and died before any conceivable hominid let alone human, then Eve's sin could not possibly have caused death. If Eve's sin did not cause death, then not only was Jesus' death unnecessary, he and the apostles were wrong. If that is the case, then Jesus is not God and the Church was in error. If it was in error, then the bible itself is false and nothing of Christianity remains except a social group.

The second problem with evolution and Christianity is also a problem of Christianity and Quantum Mechanics. Both imply, quite independently of one another, the presence of stochastic change. While deterministic, much like classical physics and classical mechanics, they possess the important and observable property of no divine intervention. In fact, if divine intervention occurred in physics it would be observable because an omniscient being would in fact trigger certain events unavoidably. If a god existed, who was omniscient, then it would in fact be observable and readily so. Likewise, evolution implies that species come and go through natural chemical processes and there is no purpose or telos to use Aristotle's term to life or any component of life. If there were a designer then you should be able to make predictions that are different from natural selection and those predictions fail.

You use the term "so-called" science. Just can't help taking a dig can you?

Science doesn't suppress religion, it merely finds answers that are more believable than anything contained within the pages of the bible.

Soren Kierkegaard (a christian and a excellent philosopher) believed that science and religion are completely unrelated and that it is a fundamental mistake to pit them against each other. Religion is about faith. There's no scientific method to disprove someones faith. I choose to be an atheist, but I agree with S.K. The two subjects aren't related and neither should be feared or suppressed.

No, not at all. It is still science regulated in the name of religion. But science are making progress because there are more and more rational individuals working towards progress.
Where in the world is religion being stifled in the name of science?

No, with science you can further prove the existence of God. For example scientists have proven that all living organisms are made of cells, no matter if it's a plant, a human, animals all these creation are made of cells. So basically one could conclude that one thing created so many different things yet all made of one thing.

I also have to add its us, humans who stifle everything not religions . Nature was perfect until we played with it, the same one could say about religions.
Throughout history man made ideologies were added to religions, which is partly the reason why it makes it so difficult to be religious.

No, science usually affirms religion. It is God showing Himself. In Islam , it is said that the Earth planet is oval in shape, but Christianity says otherwise, science then affirmed Christianity. I think that text in Islam got abrogated, huh

Good Luck!!

Religion's false claims are exposed.

Religious people complain about that.

I value honesty ahead of religion, so I wouldn't describe it as "suppressing" religion, but in this political-correctness mad world, many people do.

yes, groups of scientists regularly put theologists and clerics on the rack and burn them in market squares. if you're on about things like the dover trial and ID. it was dismissed, not suppressed, because the facts which it was based on were proved to be mistaken or false.
