I know some will say its "the mark of the beast" but isn't that a physical mark and not a card. Anyway a tamper proof social security card for national id would work to stop illegals. Since the social security card is already a national id then why would it become "the mark of the beast" by making it tamper proof?

Because it is a stepping stone to the implantable biochip. And it will have the 666 world code prefix.Saw one in the mid-1990's.Fighting it has kept it from being implemented until now.But people are conditioned and ready for it.

I am a Christian, but it is not just Christians that oppose the National I.D. (I won't elaborate, but I used to work with this type of thing, too!)

The fear is of Big Brother, man. The fear is loss of our freedoms. I know that you might say, "Well, if I have done nothing wrong, why should I fear?" That is a good argument on the surface, but the problem is that Big Brother wants to restrict the citizen's freedoms ultimately not for the "good of humanity," but for the furtherance of their sick and twisted desire for ultimate power.

Without opening an entire whole other can of worms, the immigration problem needs to be approached from a different angle, and a National I.D. Card will not solve this problem at all. There will be fakes, etc. just like with any other card.

We are giving up our freedom and privacy in the name of national security, when the threat is not anything near the reality of what is being ushered in to defend against it!

God wants us to have freedom of choice! He gave us that gift! Now, of course, He wants us to make right choices, but He ultimately wants us to make those choices ourselves!

Do you want the government to know where you are exactly, every minute of the day? Or would you like to do certain things in your life without someone watching, even if you are not doing something wrong? Some plans for the National ID will have a trackable micro chip in them, thus if the law requires that you always have it with you to produce for a law enforcement official, you can always be followed no matter where you go, correct?

It's like gun control. Only law abiding citizens do not own guns when it is illegal to do so, right? The bad guys still have guns. Effectively, the law only binds the hands of the law abiding against defending themselves, correct?

The main fear for Christians is eventually losing our liberty to pray and go to Church as we wish to, which is a fundamental basis of our having freedom and a Constitution in this country.

Defend Freedom, my friend, and don't believe everything you think is for your best interest from the government!

It might not be the 'mark of the beast, but it's a step in that direction if it is going to be something of that nature.
It's not just the Christians that are opposed to a national ID database because it's an infringency on private rights of citizens.
Look at what happened recently when 1000's of files were 'lost' in Britain and Northern Ireland;peoples life details have been stolen and now they are at risk of identity fraud.
The illegal aliens and terrorism are just smokescreens to make people rush along and sign their privacy away.

The card is not the mark. Where do you get the statistics that state Christians oppose the national ID card? The mark of the beast is ignoring Gods commandment to keep the Sabbath Holy. Love in Christ, ~J~

Apart from some fear related to any 'mark' the issue may be their concern over a one-world government that the Beast would inherit by the time he is revealed.

Where did you hear/read that "Christians" are opposed to this card? I, for one, do not oppose it.
I want disclosure and I want accountability across this county. Americans have forgotten the basic outline for good society. We have given up societal rights over the rights of the individual. That is, the individual is more important than the nation.
This is wrong and look where we have traveled for it. Pres. Kennedy said it the best when he said - "Ask not what the country can do for you, but what you can do for the county!"
We have to get rid of all this P.C. crap and find the truth and DO the truth in how we act and interact with our fellow Americans.
Give me the National ID card. I request to be held accountable.

Why not a microchip inserted under the skin?

BTW a social security card is not a legal form of ID because it doesn't have a picture or birthday.

Religious motivation or not, it's a terrible idea and it's kinda scary. I'm glad congress shot it down out of the gate. You must be some kind of fascist for actually pushing the idea.

It's one step closer towards the "Mark of the Beast".
