As we have learned in Socio 101, "bayanihan" is the act of pooling our resources together to help a particular kababayan in need. The image that often comes to mind is that of several men carrying someone's house to transport it to another location thus giving depth to the phrase "there's strength in numbers".

I believe that the bayanihan spirit is alive and well in most of us. Where I am now, I've witnessed (and have participated) in some instances of Filipinos "acting as one" in support of a fellowman. One time, several Pinoys gathered at a friend's house to help him paint his house...at another, it was to cement a driveway and so on and so forth. Labor is an expensive commodity here and so the giving of one's time for free to help another is a big big deal. So yes, that's the true bayanihan spirit at its very best!

it's not the traditional carrying of a bahay kubo but i believe that bayanihan spirit will be always in the hearts among Filipino people around the world. I don't think i've practiced bayanihan spirit. I recently heard a rally initiated by PUPians about the one peso tuition fee increase in our school but I failed to join them. I hope to practice bayanihan in the future.

just give u an exaple ok..not sure if this is bayanihan, but for me it is

i met this guy in a text clan, he's from capiz and moved to manila, the founder opened a topic 'introduce yourself and your life', so everyone shared their lives..when i read abt his life 'naawa ako sa knya' because his family is 'hiwa hiwalay'. he never saw his father i think, and his mother left him..he doesnt know where his siblings are today, and 'nakikitira lang sya ngayon' because of that i helped him find a job just by txt, comforted him when he's sad and even gave him load for the unlitxt.
then the day(dec23) before his birthday, 'napalayas sya sa tinutuluyan nya" so i helped him again to find a naw home because he told me if he wouldnt find a home after work, maybe he'll sleep in the street. but luckily he went to batangas and visited the person who helped him when he had an accident, and i think the person helped him..he then went to cavite and found a dormitory(not sure) where he will be staying.but im still worrying because if he had no money 'mapalayas ulit sya' because he has to pay 700php (per month i think) and he's just a factory worker...
hmm...thats all i can share

i just wish this new year he would be happy na and i hope he can have a permanent home. sana talaga may tumulong sa kanya

haay...how sad..

Bayanihan spirit is well alive in me when I try my best to help my kababayans in need. For OFWs like me, it is relief enough to have a friend who can relate to me.

sometimes... if our 'kababayan' here abroad needs help, we do what we could in order to help him/her...

like if s/he really needs to go home, death or in case of emergencies for instance, but s/he doesn't have fair to go, we contribute enough money in order to help...
