there are only 3 major religions in the world. Christianity, Islam and Hinduism. They make up more than 70% of world's total population.
Countries are man made divisions, not natural divisions. Naturally, a country or region is separated by oceans and/or mountains. If neither ocean or mountain exists as barrier, then it was meant to be 1 country -- thats what i feel.
Creator may have created the universe thinking that different country people would not intermix but technology advanced and religion went down.
thats just the way it is.

There are two types of religion. One is divine religion revealed by the one and only Almighty God. The other type is man-made religions. Vedic religion, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are the only revealed religions found on this earth. Buddhism, hinduism (distored form of Vedic religion), jainism, sikkhism, and all other isms come under the second category. These latter ones were not revealed but rather founded by some man or the other.
In a nutshell, there are now only four religions. Among these four religions, Islam is the latest religon of Almighty God and The Quran is the Final testament in its pure and pristine form without any interpolation or corruption unlike the other three revealed relgions. Now the only religion acceptable in the sight of God is Islam as Quran clearly declares.
"Verily the religion (lifestyle) in the sight of God is Islam" (Quran)
"Whomsoever seeks any other religion (way of life) other than Islam (submission to the Will of God), it will not be accepted of him, and he will be amonst the losers in the hereafter." (Quran 2)
Regarding different communities God says
"O mankind, I have created you from one male and one female (i.e. Adam and Eve) and made you into nations and tribes, so that you may know each other (not despise each other). Verily, the most honorable in the sight of God is the one who is most righteous and God-fearing" (Quran)

Three religions now stand in the world which have come down to us from time prehistoric - Hinduism, Zoroastrianism, and Judaism. They have all received tremendous shocks, and all of them prove by their survival their internal strength. But while Judaism failed to absorb Christianity and was driven out of its place of birth by its all-conquering daughter, and a handful of Parsees is all that remains to tell the tale of their grand religion, sect after sect arose in India and seemed to shake the religion of the Vedas to its very foundations, but like the waters of the sea-shore in a tremendous earthquake it receded only for a while, only to return in an all-absorbing Hood, a thousand times more vigorous, and when the tumult of the rush was over, these sects were all sucked in, absorbed and assimilated into the immense body of the mother faith. From the high spiritual flights of the Vedanta philosophy, of which the latest discoveries of science seem like echoes, to the low ideas of idolatry with its multifarious mythology, the agnosticism of the Buddhists and the atheism of the Jains, each and all have a place in the Hindu’s religion
‘The rose, called by any other name, would smell as sweet.’ Names are not explanations.
It is the same light coming through glasses of different colors- And these little variations are necessary for purposes of adaptation. But in the heart of everything the same truth reigns. The Lord has declared to the Hindu in His incarnation as Krishna: ‘I am in every religion as the thread through a string of pearls. Wherever thou seest extraordinary holiness and extraordinary power raising and purifying humanity, know thou that I am there. ‘ And what has been the result? I challenge the world to find, throughout the whole system of Sanskrit philosophy, any such expression as that the Hindu alone will be saved and not others. Says Vyasa, ‘we find perfect men even beyond the pale of our caste and creed.’

THE REASONS START A LONG TIME AGO...
(GENESIS 10:8-9) And Cush became father to Nim′rod. He made the start in becoming a mighty one in the earth. 9Â He displayed himself a mighty hunter in opposition to Jehovah. That is why there is a saying: “Just like Nim′rod a mighty hunter in opposition to Jehovah.”
(GENESIS 11:5-6) And Jehovah proceeded to go down to see the city and the tower that the sons of men had built. 6Â After that Jehovah said: “Look! They are one people and there is one language for them all, and this is what they start to do. Why, now there is nothing that they may have in mind to do that will be unattainable for them.
(GENESIS 11:7-9) Come now! Let us go down and there confuse their language that they may not listen to one another’s language.” 8Â Accordingly Jehovah scattered them from there over all the surface of the earth, and they gradually left off building the city. 9Â That is why its name was called Ba′bel, because there Jehovah had confused the language of all the earth, and Jehovah had scattered them from there over all the surface of the earth.
They followed Nimrod and were...in opposition to Jehovah...
Something that to Jehovah was unacceptable.
The world these days is not much different.

Because everyone has their own beliefs. People have created their own creator, or have at least thought up their own ideas of their ideal creator.
