I agree! While I havent always been a big fan of Bush (come on now some Bushisms are funny-even my husband the die-hard Bush fan laughs), I am PROUD to have him as president. He stood up and did what was right. And he WONT BACK DOWN! Unlike Democrats who stick their finger in the wind to decide their war policy for the day, Bush is standing firm and I respect that. I tell you, if we were hit with a Democrat in office, we woulda wimped out. And we would have been attacked from all sides if we had. In fact, if some Democrat wants to pull us out, it can still happen. We wimp out, they see us as weak and defenseless, they come after us. They already think Americans cant stomach the war with the number of troops killed, what do they think would happen on a larger scale? We would crumble. No matter what, we should STAY STAY STAY in Iraq and show those FUUUCKERS that we mean business!! Yes that means my husband has to rotate in and out, but we are in it for the long haul!!
Hmmm did I answer your question? I think I just ranted. Anyway, I agree with you. *giggle*

My father was a Lt. Colonel in the Armed Forces, fought in two Wars, earned medals for his efforts. He spoke little on these things, other than to say that he didn't always agree with the thought processes behind decision makers that sent military personnel into wars, but it was always clear that all of the armed forces were not related in any way to the politicians. They chose to be in the services to give back to their country, in their own different levels of expertise, which all military personnel have!
Obviously, what politicians decide, say and do is governed by others, not even they truly make the decisions, but all of the armed forces are separate from that. They follow the instructions given, but they are not political in format.
At least that is what I learned as a young child, continued to believe that through the Viet Nam War, and now the War in Iraq.
Back when my father served, things such as college educations etc were not offered when joining the military so that might "appear" to some to have had more patriotism going in. However, even though young people today are offered such things, they demonstrate a great amount of strength and loyalty to their choices and their country. Something to be admired, not ridiculed or compared to the events that led to the decisions of the "powers that be"....
I think it's really quite ridiculous for any discussion or comparison to be made between military and whomever is in office in Washington. Washington "might" make the decisions, but they do not make the military.
I am a very anti war person in all regards, but have a great amount of respect and admiration for those who serve in all segments of the armed forces, or military. The way I view it, I wouldn't be able to be an anti-war person, if the Armed Forces/Military's of past generations and forward didn't make it possible for me to be so. Washington did not do that for me, the men and women of our Armed Forces/military did, along with all the rest of their countrymen/women who stayed behind and supported them throughout the years.
I think some people would rather bring into discussions all sorts of miscellaneous subject matter more from the fear of facing simple truths and also feeling helpless. Sometimes it's easier for people to point fingers, toss in everything possible in discussions such as this, instead of doing something proactive to create change, no matter how large or small, so that the generations coming up behind them will have something greater to look forward to. I think it is more from feeling helpless and lack of knowledge that creates all these random comparisons.
Clearly, all the things tossed in now, inside job, outside job, who's in office, who isn't, for all anyone knows, the current issues at hand could have been created on Mars, that still wouldn't change the fact that the Military is not a political forum. The two only co-exist momentarily when the orders for active duty are enacted, and it's ironic that these things aren't discussed when that's not the case.

Yes I am, but it appears some people don't understand that this type of question would fall under the "politics" section. But then again many here are still sitting at home with numb minds from all the texing on their cell phones, i-pod blaring in their ears, and game controller in hand while trying to figure out what to ask!

I agree. I think if someone else would have been elected, instead of Bush, they would be in the same situation as Bush.

Yep I'm with ya on this one. Ok ya Bush sucks and more than likely 9/11 was an inside job. However what that has to do with military that people somehow assume relevance to I just don't get it...but enough people were ignorant enough to vote bush into office twice too so that shows the level of ignorance of alot people anyways lol

not really upset. but then I am not an US-ian, so your presidents don't really concern me.
However it is really hilarious to see people griping about Bush and in the same breath praising the goofy Carter for his "statesmanship".
Just thank your stars you don't have to live in Iran- after Carter "helped" it

I will say the 9/11 conspiracy theories probably belong somewhere else. But, if GW is the commander and chief, any comments about his morals, performance and decision making skills are approapriate to place in this thread.
