The face of television has certainly changed since I was a child watching an old black & white that took 30 minutes to completely power down (that white light dot used to keep me up at night). A big factor in the change of network TV has been the onset of cable, which is not governed by the same rules as broadcast. Especially since cable began producing original series, network television has found itself in the position of actually having to compete (a totally new concept for corporations that had a lock on the industry for years). And BTW, HBO did full frontal with Oz. So you can probably expect things to change even more as far as rules are concerned. I think the biggest change, though, is coming from DVD, TiVo, etc. Sponsors no longer have a lock on the viewing public because people know how to use the fast forward button (we used to have to go to the bathroom during commercials). And they tried putting ads in the videos, but we know how to get past them too. Since sponsors no longer have their strangle-hold on what people view, it's probably going to come down more to ratings than "public opinion". Whatever, after56 years I've been in this world, nothing will surprise me anymore.

i think in the next 30 years tv will be basically a series of geico insurance commericals with that annoying geiko trying to convince people he's actually cute.
