Are you asking a general question concerning all males to all females? Impossible!
Even for my own taste, each womans style is sooo very different.
One woman might look fantastically sensual and beautiful in jeans and tee, while another would look best on a date in a dress, yet another gothed and sleeved out.
The most alluring and sexy date clothing for a woman, in my view? sorry, the attitude she wears over and under her clothing!
And, where am I taking her to?
Norm? Skirt and blouse, nice hair style, mild mild mild makeup (if any), light scent, nice moderate heeled shoes or boots, a smile...and, a self assured attitude (neither cocky, nor tame)

I think that the sexiest piece of clothing a girl should wear on a date is something formal yet can be something you just wear out at the same time. like a formal shirt with some jeans is good.

I could tell you what is not sexy, baggy jeans, silk shirts, puffy sweaters, no sweatshirts, oversized t-shirts, too short of skirt, half shirts or see through shirts, do not over do it, overalls are not sexy, long sleeve button up shirts, no football jerseys, not too big of heels, no tie dye, any t-shirt with someones face on it. No animal print. no sweat pants. no business pant suits. no long dresses. Don't wear alot of jewlery. So don't where any of these things and you should be ok.

Jeans, Sneakers (or similar) , a cute top and day wear makeup. And yes, I agree with the lingere comment, it will make you feel sexy, and when you feel sexy, it makes a lot of difference.
