I was carrying a hot bowl of soup in one hand, and a can of pop in the other. I passed by the light switch, and I decided I would turn it off with my foot. I kicked up sharply.. and.. er.. I dumped the scalding hot soup all over my stomache and legs.
The area's been red for 10 minutes now, and it hurts to walk. I've never really gotten burned before, so what am I supposed to do to help it? :0

Wow, okay I usually do not answer questions with this many answers in front of me but I am going to have to make an exception, as you got some HORRIBLE answers, some of which could be very harmful. It really makes me angry when people give answers in the health sections. I mean these can be serious problems people! If you are just guessing at what to do then don't answer.
So this is the CORRECT thing to do.
1) Assess the extent of the injury. Do you have blisters? Or is it just red? If you have blisters all over your stomach and legs you need to call 911 and just lay down until Paramedics arrive to take care of you, seriously, that is it.
2) If it is just red and warm to touch, I think it would be best to get a cool shower. This should releive some of the pain.
3) Next you can eather put aloe on it, or better yet just leave it alone, and go to the doctor if it starts to become very painful and/or signs and symptoms of infection develop.
WHAT NOT TO DO!
Put any kind of food product on it (butter, fruit, sour cream, anchoves...whatever, it will only make it worse.)
Put Ice on it. Ice decreases blood flow which can lead to slower healing. Ice would be especially harmful to 2nd and 3rd degree burns!
Good Luck, hope your get to feeling better soon!!! ;-)

I was going to say to use Aloe Vera, but then saw that you don't have any. I think I remember hearing that Noxema skin cream can help, but double check before doing so. So use common sense: go to the ER and have them evaluate it, and stop kicking at light switches while carrying bowls of scalding hot soup. Good luck!

Okay, I know this sounds wierd, but put butter on it.
I know some people will say aloe vera, or something, but I burn myself alot (I'm very clumsy), and I can tell you first hand that aloe vera doesn't do anything.
But put some butter on it. It may make it blister faster, but it will make the stinging stop within a few minutes.
edit:
DO NOT USE ICE. THAT WILL ONLY MAKE IT HURT WORSE!!

butter is a very old remedy. It has been found to be detrimental as it cuts air off from the area. Keeping it cool is the best answer I have. Unless you have blisters from it, or your skin is peeling off. In this case, you need a doctor and pain medication.

Aloe is excellent, particularly Panama Jacks cooling gel. If you don't have that handy (which is likely), there's nothing like cool water.
