do you think it is just for warmth? for affection?

cats tend to be somewhat mercenary .. Take what they can get from whoever they can .... and affection has extremely little to do with it,

my cat almost demands that I go to bed (if I am sitting up later than normal ) when she's cold and tired..

Once I am up she goes and snuggles next to my husband ..

Do Cats Like Their Owners

Although private by nature I think cats like to sleep close to owners because it is their way of dealing out affection and feel a sense of security at the same time with warmth as a by-product of this connection.

I think affection. My new cat sleeps next to me and not my hubby - she's really bonded w/ me and not the guys in the house! So it's cat -> me -> hubby. The furthest she goes is to my feet to stretch out, but still won't go to hubby's side of the bed! If it was just warmth - hubby's a furnance - I'm always the one who's cold! So it's definitely affection.

I think it's for both warmth & affection. My cats love to cuddle with me.

It warmth and affection, and it's not cats only most of pets, like man like to sleep near woman and woman near man same way cat and dogs also like the same way whom they love.

I believe with my cats it is probably more affection than warmth. I have one cat that only shows me attention when I am in the bedroom and no one else can see that she lets down her "cattitude". Today, I had one cat at my feet, one next to my legs, one lying on my side, and one near my head. (I work nights and sleep days.) Needless to say, I was plenty warm, but I'm not sure about them!

to not be alone, a lot of pets are really close to their owners, and they want to be next to them as they sleep, of course the warmth is a bonus.
