I dont necessarily believe there is any sort of correlation between depression and religious choices, just curious to see. Thanks in advance

I only ever was in a really severe depression before I found my faith.

I'm a Norse Heathen (Asatruar)

I started to once when I lived in an area that received very little sunlight during the winter.

Then I found out I had Seasonal Affective Disorder, which means that there was not enough sunlight in the morning to trigger the "wake up" hormone Seratonin and shut off the "sleep" hormone Melatonin in my brain.

This results in depression, and if left to go on long enough results in SEVERE depression. Luckily mine didn't get that far before it was discovered.

The cure is as simple as sitting in front of a full spectrum lightbox for half an hour in the morning and half an hour in the early afternoon. Right as rain again after that.

I feel really bad for those who don't know they have this and suffer needlessly.

It was a medical issue, not a faith issue, for me.

My religion is Judaism.

Over the last five years I had begun to have increasingly withdraw into a downward spiral of depression..

But now with the method I can fully focus my energy and thoughts into a decisive line on how to make my life better constantly. And it works like magic! I'm beginning to attract people to me once again and things have just been looking up since then.

Helping you eliminate depression?

Yes, I am totally depressed and for a good reason...

If you just look around you (or for those that never go outside - turn on your TV) you will see we as a whole society have let our humanity and intergrity, our humility and honor die.

Everyone should be depressed UNTIL WE DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT, don't take drugs to make you not depressed, that is governmental control at it's finest (guess who owns the major corporations that make all those drugs you see on late night TV?)!

Religion is another man made disaster, turn to your heart, look within, stop believing everything you are told and seek the answers through your God given abilities.

Yes, to one degree or another; never to a serious degree. I don't currently have a religious belief. I would be considered an Atheist by some definitions, and Agnostic by others. I could even be considered a Theist if you define god the way Spinoza did. I was raised Catholic, but have not followed this religion since I was old enough to defy my mother's wishes. Peace.

I've been depressed as a Christian, and depressed as an atheist.

The underlying reason was found three years ago, after more than twenty years of assessment and treatment missed the diagnosis, and it has made a tremendous difference. When I've clocked up ten years free of depression, I'll know I've cracked it, but so far, so good. (no pills required!)

I was depressed for over a year. I believe now it was due to my dependancy on the first girl I ever loved. I was a non-practicing Jew at the time.

My second love became dependent on me, became anxious and found Jesus.

Both of us are better, but I'm an atheist, not due to the desperation though, after research.

Technically I am Christian because of the baptism thing but in all honesty I am more a believer in Faith, Faith that there is something more and something better.

I was depressed for awhile but I worked through it. I've been atheist since I was 13 and I guess it doesn't really matter. To each his own. Some turn to themselves to survive and other turn to god when they need help

Depression, PSTD. But not a lack of faith.
