Did Vigee Le Brun ever sign her miniature portraits this way (as Brun). Brun is written exactly in the same manner as she signed Le Brun, only the Le is omitted.

If this were an original Le Brun miniature portrait of Napoleon, what would it's value be?

There are listings for 45 artists named Brun and more that are hyphenated. You should contact a reputable auction house or have it appraised to determine the date and the value. It must be seen.

I'm afraid that professional valuers do not visit these pages. People who know a little about art usually suggest taking paintings to a fine art auctioneer. I can't remember off hand if Mme Le Brun ever signed in this way, but it is highly unlikely. It could, of course, be a copy of a famous miniature, and if it is contemporary to the period, or even by someone actually named Brun, it would be collectible, as Napoleonic artefacts are very popular.
