Should we keep allowing immigrants in or should we close our borders?

With our infrastructure being maxed out both in the health and welfare departments are we on the verge of meltdown. These days we're hearing about immigrants being treated better than our own citizens, surely this is wrong?

I'm talking mainly the United Kingdom and to do with both legal and illegal immigrants. I'm definitely in favour of kicking the illegal ones out, no questions asked. The legal ones, well I'd want to kow how they'd contribute to society first.

In the UK we are far too soft with illegals, then when we try and deport them they use our legal system to pay for their defence. (That's our own fault I guess). If they're genuine assylum seekers then that's fair enough, but to come here just for a cushy life then no.

We need to close the borders, because it is true the immigrants get more from our government then the citizens of these United States. They get into accidents and have no license or insurance. If a citizen goes in for help they are going to be turned away and they could just be down on there luck people meaning our own citizens have family that they are responsible for. They have paid taxes and worked for years being turned away. Also the welfare system or should I say the people who work there feel as though it is coming directly out of there pockets in some states they can be down right rude directly to our own citizens it is a sin and a shame.

this is one of those questions you hear where you first have to decide whether or not you are talking to someone who really wants to know and doesnt or someone who just wants to voice an opinion in the form of a question in the hope that they wont be called a racist.

our society is set up in such a way that there is nothing you can do in it which doesn't involve you paying some sort of tax and as money is a main argument that such negative people use you might want to look at your next purchase receipt and check how much tax you have just paid. so arguing that both legal and illigal immigrants pay no tax is a flawed argument.

Illigal and legal immigrants must eat, or are you under the impression they dont?

if they must eat then they must buy food here if they buy food here they are keeping someone in a job, probably the racist who is betoning their presence here in this country.

We have a legal system which is supposed to protect the rights of ALL in this country. it was not a 100 years ago when the law only protected the chosen few.....or those who had enough money to pay for their defence and what did we have for a society then? one of indentured servants [slavery in in a different guise] of oppression by the rich against the poor. if youwish those days to return then i suggest you vote for a party that will return the "Good Old Days" back to you because the moment you wish to segregate some who are entitled to the law's protection from those who are not is going to take you back to those days.

and if you look back through our history you will find that English is a mixture of saxon, roman, danish, swedish, french, spanish......woah hold on doesnt that make us all descended from people who didnt live here before? and doesnt that then make us all sons of immigrants? hmmmm

I think you are worrying about the wrong thing.

let me help you by giving you a brief glimpse of the future a future where if certain people get their own way and these people [you know who they are] have one design, they want everything in this world to be "Owned" from the air you breath to the water you drink and the food you eat. If these people get their way what type of future do you think the sons and daughter's of your descendants will have?

for if they own nothing in a world where everything is "Owned" then the only thing left is slavery..... to be sure it will be called a different name but in truth mark my words it will be slavery.

The question gets asked frequently.We cannot close our borders as we are in the EU.But we can prevent people travelling from their departure point.Issuing massive fines for Airline and Shipping companys in violation.Another way would be to put a sizeable bond down which is now being discussed.It is unlikly this will be approved because the immigrants in the UK will claim unfair treatment for their visiting families.But it is the only way to stem the flow.Nobody talks about our kids future who will have to live in Commie style flats being built everywhere in Britain.Only in the 70s these types of buildings were condemmed as gettos.

Deport ALL of the ILLEGALS back to where they came from. Immediately. I don't give two farts in a hailstorm about that cheesy little grin and shrug when you ask them a question, in the spoken language, and they EXPECT you to make them feel comfortable and speak THEIR language!? Many immigrants are a benefit to the UK,NAMELY THE DOCTORS,SCIENTISTS ETC,However there is now a massive influx from the east who are coming here in the full knowledge they will never be ejected and can claim all that is available here,but that is not available in their own country,without having to contribute,this is an open fact,there for us all to see,i see this on a daily basis as i live in a large city and near these ever expanding communities,the country is rapidly becoming overcrowded and the indigenous population needs to wake up quickly im afraid.

We should definitely restrict the numbers coming in. Other arguments aside our housing, education and health services are buckling under the increasing numbers that have arrived in such a relatively short time.
The point that immigramts will do the jobs others will not do makes me livid. It is not only immigrants who do menial jobs plenty of the imdigenous population do them, These people are now being laid off or refused jobs because migrant workers will do them for less. Remember also that those on very low incomes qualify for "Working Tax Credits" to top up their earnings. Once in receipt of this they qualify for a host of other benefits which we as taxpayers fund. So who is ultimately footing the bill? The employers are pulling in the profits, our home grown low skilled or bone idle person is even less likely to get work, yet we are being told that mass immigration is good for the country. Who are they trying to kid? Please see the bigger picture and not be blinded by accusations of racism, this is ultimately about economics but it is not being done in order to benefit the average worker.

You are right that if immigrants are treated better than our own citizens, that this is wrong, but this is not the case. Of course, you will find an example or two where someone gets help that others do not, but on the whole, UK citizens get more help than immigrants.

Last of all, almost all immigrants come here to work, not to abuse our welfare system. Bear that in mind.

Well since we are no longer a United Kingdom ...let em in ...whats the problem some of them do the jobs that other people would never do ....as for using our so called resources ...so what its one planet and how can we criticise them in doing this when we have a government that is more interested in supporting a building society that its police force ......This country has always been made of people from other parts of the world ...learn to live with it cos where ever you go my Friend there will be people of mixed race and ability ....
