What do you want to do online? As you have posted this to the community service section, I guess you are looking for web sites that can help you learn about issues of importance to your community, the world, etc.?

ReliefWeb, http://www.reliefweb.int, is a great place to learn about the most critical issues facing various parts of the world, and to get up-to-date information about whatever natural disaster is striking. Sign up for their online newsletters to learn more about the organizations addressing various critical issues and what you can do about it.

The Development Gateway is a more sophisticated site, http://www.developmentgateway.org, and might be over the head of a 16 year old -- it provides indepth information on how the most critical issues relating to health, aids, poverty, environmental problems, etc., are being addressed.

To get involved in your own community, try visiting http://www.volunteermatch.org and http://www.idealist.org
