ok..so, my dad and stepmom have been married two years. shes a cool person and shes very funny. shes 31 and she never talked about wanting a baby but when i visited them on christmas day ((my two brothers came with me)) my stepmom looked like she was a few months pregnant. last time i visited them was a month ago and her belly looked normal ((she’s a really skinny person)). also she ate a lot at dinner. lol.

when we left i asked my brothers if they noticed anything different with our dad and stepmom. my eldest brother commented on the fact that she looked like she gained some holiday weight. i then asked them if they though she was pregnant. they both said its very possible because she loves babies and kids ((shes a kindergarten teacher...lol)). i dont know if my brothers are going to ask her if shes pregnant but if they dont ask...should i? i want to know but i dont know how to ask her in such a way that it isnt intrusive. should i ask something like "have you and dad though about having a baby?" does that sound fine?

ok..i asked my dad this morning if he and my stepmom considered having a baby. he told me that they have thought it over the past year and have pretty much decided not to have any children. its unfortunate that im not going to be a big brother but its their decision and im still happy for them. thanks again for all the advice people!!

if your worried about insulting her, maybe you should ask your dad and just let him know that you wanted to ask her but didn't want to insult her if she wasn't... if asking your dad isn't an option than i think your question on whether or not they've thought about having kids seems fine.... its a way to bring up the subject without just saying gee you've gained some weight are you pregnant lol

You shouldn't ask anyone, stepmom or dad. If she isn't pregnant, you are going to make an awkward situation all around, and if she IS pregnant, they'll tell you when THEY are ready for people to know. Pregnancy is a private issue between the prospective parents. Let them deal with it how they choose, don't force the issue.

oh god no.
I've asked a few girls if they were pregnant and the answers were.. unfortunate.
But good luck anyway, she'll probably tell you during her first trimester or something, when the baby bump becomes OBVIOUS. Better yet, ask your dad to ask her / ask your dad if she's preggy.

if you are close i dont see why it would be wrong to ask. but if it is just some holiday weight she could get really offended. im sure if she is they will tell you and your brothers soon.

i think so...there is nothing wrong with it.. you can ask: "am i going to have a little brother or a sister soon?" you can add some explanation after.
there is really nothing wrong about it...

If you don't want to ask her, afraid that it's just extra weight she's put on, then ask your father.

i guess. hm. id probably just ask your dad. if she wasnt pregnant, youd feel horrible. thats one of the worst things a girl could have somebody ask.
