I scrub mine to get it clean first. Polk a few slits in it with a knife and wrap it in a paper towel. It really depends on the size of the potato on how long you bake it. I would say 5 min. for an a average size. If it is not soft when you squeeze it. Bake it a little longer.

If you are trying to nuke a baked-potato-sized potato (like the kind you would split open and put some kind of filling in it) then it requires at least 8 minutes. If it's a smaller-sized potato (like the kind you would cut up for a stew) then it would probably take only 5-6 minutes. Whatever size, it needs to have some moisture or else it will be too dry. You can either soak the potato in a little water then wrap in plastic wrap or place in a bowl with a little water on the bottom and either place a paper towel or plastic wrap on top. Usually you can tell it's ready when the skin on top bursts slightly but the best way is the fork test.

After 4 minutes, heavily attain into the microwave and prick with fork back to work out how delicate it extremely is. What you will in all hazard locate is that the backside is delicate and the appropriate continues to be slightly stressful, so turn the potato over and cook dinner for yet another a million to 2 minutes. enable stand in microwave for 2 minutes and you should be stable to flow! Time could selection slightly in accordance with length of potato and the skill of your microwave.

I would say 2 to 3 minutes. I wouldn't wrap it in anything. Just put it on a paper towel and it should be good.

A medium size Idaho Russett takes about 8 minutes and then you need to let it rest before eating it.
