is it alright to boil the potatoes, stuff them and then bake? all the recipes of stuffed potatoes say you have to bake, stuff and bake again. what's the difference between boiling and baking them first?

To speed things up, you can bake them the first time in the micro-wave..then slice and scoop out the potatoe..mash with a little butter and milk until desired creaminess then stir in chives, cheese, and any other ingrediant you might want (crumbled cooked bacon, sour cream, etc.) Then bake them the second time in the oven until potatoes are hot and cheese melted.

Boiling is a moist heat cooking method that will not brown food because A. You are cooking with water as the medium and B. The temperature never gets above 212 F. You have to bake the potato for this recipe because you need the potato skin to be crispy and intact. Boiling it will cause the skin to slide off the spud. Use fresh chives, roasted garlic and lots of cheese!

nope. you have to bake for them to be really good. you could speed them up in the microwave and finish in the oven.
