I'm already aware of petfinder.com, puppyfind.com, craigslist.com, and kijiji.com. Are there any other websites for advertising a puppy for free? We spent about $400 on our puppy and I feel after 4 weeks of having her, she deserves more time and attention than I'm able to give her...I have a 5 yr. old and a crawling baby. I need to find a good, warm, safe home for her, although, I'm going to miss her dearly (trust me, I've spent 2 nights crying about it already...I'm a dog lover). Please give me helpful advice!

Hey guys & gals...let me just say that she is definately in a good, safe home. We do take very good care of Sophie. People pay money for non-shedding hypo-allergenic puppies which is what we needed since my husband is allergic. She's a beautiful puppy and I refuse to GIVE her away...after doing research, I've been told not to give her away and to charge a reasonable amount because chances are, she will end up in a better home. I do commend the person who advised to give a 25% refund after spaying to the new potential owner so she won't end up pumping out puppies for the rest of her life. I've been around dogs/puppies my whole life and definately have experience w/raising one. I just feel too overwhelmed right now and think Sophie deserves a home where someone with more time on their hands can give her more attention. I will miss her terribly. Its such a shame that some people can be so rude and arrogant when you ask for a serious, geniune piece of advice. Thanks for the help!

Sorry, I can't list any other websites for you. However, I do want to add a note that firstly, you should charge a price, and secondly, you should spay her before she goes.
You need to charge a price, even if it's just $100 (I wouldn't charge more than that, $100 is about the price of a mutt at the shelter). This will ward off the lousy research scientists looking for experiment subjects, and the dog-fighters looking for bait.
You also need to spay her, or else a backyard breeder or a puppy mill is likely to pick her up. A $100 price tag is not going to ward off these people who sell MUTTS to unsuspecting consumers for thousands of dollars, and she will end up being abused and being treated like an ATM or a puppy factory for the rest of her life.
Try to screen her buyer carefully. Ask lots of questions - any toddlers, where will she sleep, who will walk her, who will train her, how much exercise will she get, etc. Make sure she is going to a good home, it will make her departure easier on your heart. Keep in touch with her new owner if you can so you can still check in on her once in awhile. I hope she finds a good home and that you will be able to find another canine companion later on when it fits in better with your lifestyle.
Sorry I can't provide any other means of help.

The reason you can not find a price is because there is not price point for mutts. Breeders don't know because no responsible breeder would ever breed these dogs. Only BYB's and puppy mills would ever dare sell such a mix. There will not be a website for them. What you are describing is a mutt. Mutts should be sold for a re-homing fee with a spay and neuter contract. The fee should be no more than the cost of the vet visit and vaccinations Spay and neuter your dog.

Why do you want to sell her online? Why not post her photo at your local veterinarians' offices and pet supply stores and ask for vet references? Ask a modest price for her,and offer a 25% refund for proof of spay surgery. This way you will get to meet the prospective owners, and if they produce vet references, then you'll know that they willl most likely take care of her. But really, you could keep her; there are plenty of people who raise puppies and kids at the same time. She won't be a puppy for long, you know. And NEVER give a dog away for free;too many goofballs will take advantage of getting a free puppy and you don't know who will end up with her.

First off you should of thought about that BEFORE you got a dog. I would say to contact the place you got her from, but i see you paid $400 for a mix breed so i am assuming you got her from a BYB (back yard breeder. or a so called breeder because they arent even breeding a real breed).
But you already have this so what you should do i contact rescue groups in the area maybe they can help you, you can place an ad in the paper but screen the homes... and NEVER give a puppy away for free always charge something like 50 for it.... A lot of times people take free animals to testing or for bait.

If you had bought a purebred, you could contact that breeds rescue, unfortunately your options for a mutt are the local shelter or spca...
If you rehome the dog yourself without a rescue or shelter involved, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, spay her before placing her. Otherwise there's a good chance she'll end up somewhere pumping out puppies for the rest of her life. If you do this, don't mention she's spayed when you place the ad, see how many people don't want her if she's spayed and you'll see why you should spay her!
I'm not even going to go any farther than that because it will be impossible to be nice.

What i saw some people do is they put them at local stores: Safeway, Albertsons, ANYWHERE!! Oops, sorry online?? I think you should put papers up at your local stores, that's a good way and people near you will get her and you can visit her too! GOOD LUCK!
