Ps3 sixaxxis controller?

I'm having trouble connecting my 2nd ps3 controller can any one tell me how to connect it the first one works fine but the second one will connect and say 2 on one of the 4 reds but i cant play multiplayer on it for some reason.

Plug it with your USB cable for the first time. Press PS button. This will register the second controller.

if it is the first time you are using it plug it into the console via the usb cable and press the ps button this will register the controller you can then use it wirelessly. or it might just be the case of the controller has not been charged or it is out of battery power
