Both of the knifes are made in germany but i don't know which one is "better." The spelling could be wrong but this question is for a friend.

The age of the knives and type of knife is important. I suppose you're talking about a hunting knife because of the section. Unfortunately older knives are of better quality The JA Henckels hunting knives I've seen lately on eBay have been the ones with a picture of an animal on the blade. Wolf, Deer, Ducks, and Bear and maybe one more they are good quality but older ones seem to have better steel. Wusthof is mainly known for kitchen knives as is Henckels and the steel they are made with comes from the same town in Solingen, Germany. Each company has been in production for hundreds of years although taken over by other companies through the years. I think Henckels is probably more prolific making razors, folding knives, silverware, kitchen knives, hunting knives, various tools, just about anything made of metal. For this reason I would say Henckels is better than Wusthof even though I own both.

Note: They must be stamped JA Henckels Germany and have the Twin Logo. Watch out for Japanese made Henckels they're not of the same quality.

Only the high end Henckels are made in Germany which are far higher quality than Wusthof.

Wusthof are for amateurs.

I've not used any of their hunting knives, but the kitchen knives produced by both companies are top notch. I believe your friend would be happy with either knife.

If it is possible, he should handle knives from both companies to determine which handles fit his hand and cutting style better. Then purchase the one that feels best in his hand.
