All the mainstream religions of today will be nothing but history and the religions of old will again reign supreme again..
Two of the most popular religions of today should never have rose to power, but they did and one in particular murdered everyone who would not renounce their Pagan beliefs..
In the year 391 CE Pagan worship was outlawed by, can you guess ?? The Catholic Church....
There is enough evidence in the bowels of The Vatican to dispel the Christian religion forever, and one day soon this will be exposed...
The simple Earth based religions will again flourish, and all the false murderous religions will become extinct forever..
Blessed Be... )O(

All things come to an end. Some religions are pretty persistent, though. Christianity will probably become extinct when humans do.

i guess over a certain period of time there is a possibility of many world religions becoming extinct. You have to understand that not all religious messages are timeless - as society evolves people will need a message which speaks directly to them, not a prehistoric message which plays no significance in their lives.

Yes, because when the people that follow them go extinct so does the religion. Nothing last forever, be it 1 year or 3000 years.

You're assuming a sort of "genetic drift" version of religious development.
I don't believe this was the case --
A large number of religions were extiguished through concerted, sustained efforts by Christian and Muslim military systems to destroy them.
The only efforts to destroy the modern religious systems occured in the socialist dictatorships of the twentieth century and these efforts were very intermittent.

There will always be religion as long as there are people. However at the rate we are changing our environment with the exponential population growth, I think it will be us that goes extinct first.

some are meant to be and some are not meant to be.
so yes some may disappear, but i think some will always be here, as long as there are people to pray.

Some may, I think Scientology will be gone in a few hundred years.
But some, like Christianity will never ever die.
