As a Muslim, I want to apologize for all the violence that is seen in the media. I had nothing to do with 9/11, and neither did any of my friends. We're good people who watch movies, eat pizza, and hate homework like everyone else.

I just want to say that Islam doesn't mean terrorism.

They might be 'suspect' that Muslims are terrorists but not 'assume' they are.
If assume is the word I would think it's because Muslims really almost look the same in apperance. Kinda hard not too. I wouldn't be surprised that the terrorists watch movies, eat pizza and hate homework too.
Terrorism can come from any part of the world but right now it is coming from a Muslim country.
I don't believe that "all" Muslims are terrorists. Just those who are and we won't know will we?

Muslim is a faith and every since 9/11 people have been narrowed minded due to a few peoples actions. second one group of people should not be blamed for someone else. but i have to be honest. 9/11 is the biggest reason and now when anyone sees someone of Pakistani or middle eastern descent they automatically assume that that person is a terrorist. Let me leave you with this quote by Maya Angelou, "We are more alike, then we are different," and when we as people realize that, they the world would be a different place and I don't think like that.

Clever not to mention which country you claim to live in! There are so few Muslim countries that are not subject to Muslim on Muslim violence nowadays! The violence goes right back to a dispute over who had spiritual authority over the Muslim community after the death of the prophet Muhammad in what is called the “fitna” which translates as temptation or trial and caused all the discord within Muslim community. Shi’ite Muslims believe that authority was vested in his family; the Sunnis look to the sayings and actions of Muhammad as well as the Koran. The extreme sectarian violence has been brought about by Al-Qaeda Which while being exclusively Sunni deliberately set Shi’ites and Sunnis to kill each other in Iraq. Sadly more Muslims die by Muslim hands each month than were killed by the invading forces in the war! Hamas also kills far more Muslims than the Israelis ever have! An average of over thirty five Muslims a week were being killed by Muslims but in the last few years it has frequently been over a hundred a week! Whether it is a Danish Cartoon, book of fiction , a snippet of film or some other excuse, Muslims hit the streets around the world rioting, looting, burning and uttering death threats! Nearly all the Muslim countries are seeing Muslims attack Muslims destroying homes, businesses, infrastructure and targeting women and children particularly showing the extremists must surely be trying to turn Muslims into primitives living in caves and mud huts so they can be controlled more easily!

People need someone to blame and because the terrorist were Muslims, they assume ALL of them are bad. Stereotype basically, no matter how much you want it to stop, it never will. Just like everyone assumes ALL emo's cut themselves, all punk kids are trouble makers, all goth kids never smile, all people who dress like they are gangsta will have a gun, all rednecks marry their cousins, all Japanese people are smart, all Americans love bush, all french people are snobs.....and the list goes on and on.
Don't apologies, you did not do anything wrong, and I know it must be hard on you with people starring and whispering things when they see you, (that's not confirmed but I'm assuming that happend to you once or twice.)

Well the problem is that since the muslims attacked Americans have grown unconfidential towards muslims, however that is not to say that they are terrorists but merely a precaution that the government takes. But there is this new show called Alliens in America, that involves a muslim who is adopted by an American family, and he proves to be very good. I think that this show is helping spread the word that muslims are not terrorists.

I completely agree with you. I know as a good person that not all muslims are terrorists. I think that there are a number of reasons as to why people feel the way you think they do. One, I feel that the media is at least partly to blame for misconceptions at least here in the United States. Too much of what the media shows is very biased and unfair. The other thing is that the media shows many extremists and then in turn, the people watching these accounts of incidents tend to draw crazy conclusions that all muslims are acting in one way. It is so sad to me that there are people out there that truly believe that because someone is of one faith or race or anything else that they are all alike. Blanket statements and preconceived notions are so dangerous. If you are a good person, people will see you for who you really are. And if someone isn't willing to get to know you because they have preconceived notions of someone based on unfounded beliefs or conclusions then its their loss and their ignorance that is pushed forward, not yours.

Not all people do.

The problem is that the peaceful, non-radical Muslims don't vocally disavow the extremist variety. Those of you that find the radical terrorist Muslims to be a disgrace to the religion should speak up and say so. Publicly. And a lot.
The terrorists are a small minority of the Islamic religion, but they get all the press, and few from the mainstream majority appear to be critical of their violence.

I don't envy you, your getting a bad rap. A lot of people hear things like Muslim's are taught to hate Americans at a very early age. That the Koran teaches or says death to infidels, ect.,ect.
I believe that if your here in our country, that you or your recent ancestors didn't like where they were, to me that makes you an American first, then a Muslim.
Also, many Americans don't understand how religion and state work together in the Mid. East.
Good luck

Let me ask you a question, Abdullah. I keep hearing the same sentence over and over and over.

"Islam is a peaceful religion."

Okay, let's accept that. You are a peaceful Muslim. You go to the Mosque to pray. You live your life right. You would never consider doing harm to anyone.

But, what if you knew some other members of your Mosque were planning some kind of violent attack against non-Muslims. Would you turn them over to the Police?

That's the problem a lot of Americans have with Muslims. There are many of your faith out there who know about planned attacks. Who know the people involved in planning a suicide bombing, car bombing, etc. and say nothing to anyone.

You are not the one doing the violence but, if you keep quiet and don't work toward change there will always be mistrust.
