Why is religion "out of control"?

Question

Religion is out of control right now precisely because too many people have been too diplomatic for too long. If we’d had the balls to do some straight talking years ago when we should have and put this insulting nonsense in it’s rightful place, with astrology and palmistry we wouldn’t even been talking about this now. We’d be doing something more useful with our time; what a waste of an enlightenment.

So my position is pretty clear, believe whatever you want but if you want me to believe it, then provide evidence or expect mockery and ridicule. Do not expect polite debate. I am not trying to convert anyone to anything. I don’t give a damn what anyone believes as long as I don’t have to keep hearing about it. And by the way that would include condescending atheists, just for future reference.

I am not interested in arguing about whether God exists or not, I couldn’t give a ****; if he does he can go suck eggs for all I care; in fact, he can “know” himself, in the biblical sense because I want nothing to do with any God who would encourage murder on his behalf, which the God of the desert repeatedly does. In fact I’m ashamed and embarrassed to have been created by somebody with such moronic values which is why you’ll never hear me bragging about it.

You have made some very valid points. If there was a god, this god would not posses some of the weakest of human traits such as jealousy, vindictiveness, and vanity. It is a shame that many people have such a low self worth as to believe in such an entity. Religion is out of control because sheeple are afraid of life, death, the unknown, and themselves.

So, uh, you believe in god, or you don't, or maybe you do, or what? Dude, you shouldn't ask the question "is religion out of control" and bust out into a full blown baby fit. I don't care that you don't believe in...whatever the hell it is you don't or do or don't believe in you just sound like a pissed off military dad when you spew this anger out. If you choose to believe this then fine but I'd be more inclined to actually research what I ridicule before I mock something I neither understand or respect. By the way, an intellectual and intelligent person doesn't need to attack others if they disagree. They are content to simply say they disagree and respect those who disagree with them.

deli llama , Actually I think there is even too much Astrology and Palmisrty allowed . What sort of idiotic people is this country raising that we need things like that ,and Scientology ,and Holy Water from mail order ministries .... It's just crazy !

Ok, you didn't really post a question, more of a commentary. I will add; however, that the encroachment of religion into politics and into the government itself is what bothers me more than anything. Religion and politics must be kept separate, when Church and State are mixed, both are weakened.

The world has been trying to get rid of Christianity, which is based on the Old and New Testaments, since the time it first began. It didn't happen because God wouldn't let it happen. He confirmed His Word with signs and wonders, and occasionally, He still does.
