I cannot tell you enough times here to be extremely careful should you decide to do this. Unlike tattooing, it does not ever fall under licensing or even "allowed" in areas where there is any sort of body modification regulations. Therefore, the work is all essentially underground so you don't always know how clean the person you are getting this from works. While it can be done simply with tattoo needles, practices of removal of entire sections of skin is very common - essentially a medical procedure, which is why it is underground.
MRSA is a huge risk in these procedures and not only from the person doing the work, but from how it is (not) cared for. Choose your body mod person wisely.

just like with a tattoo, make sure it's something you really really want before you get it. Scars may be (slightly) less noticable, but it's still gonna be there a long long time!!!
I'm sure you've done your research, but just incase you still want to learn more, www.bmezine.com(If you haven't been there before) is a great site for information about scarifications and all the different ways it can be done. It also shows you what to look for in a high quality scarification artist.
Good luck!!!

I have many self-done scars that I'm very pleased with.
I actually didn't find it too painful.
The healing was an annoying process, though, because you don't want your cutting to heal too quickly.
I always pick my scabs off for the first week (at least), and I use hydrogen peroxide on it for 2 weeks (at least).
For me, my end result is very faint, white-ish scars.
I love it, I plan on getting a full sidepiece as soon as I have the time.

There is a much safer way to do this, than actually cutting and scaring. There is a "white tattoo" out now that resembles the scarring done, there is also a black light tattoo out that looks pretty cool ....but, the white tattoo looks good, and, in time it can fade if you choose.

it hurts a lot and the after care is pretty bad too.. u have to irritate it to make it stand out more..or else it would heal normally and it wont be as noticeable,, that is what i know about it and i wouldn't do it personably because i dont like how it looks but its up to you of course
