It is absolutely acceptable. It makes sense in an informal event, but can be done well in a formal event too. Just have them do loose curls or waves or straighten and then curl under at the ends. Another great option is a half ponytail, because it keeps things (like your veil or headpiece) in place and your hair off of your face. You still get that long look though. I think it looks great in pictures (those fancy updos usually end up looking like birdsnests).

If you're a guest, then sure it is. However if you're a bridesmaid or part of the bridal party then sometimes the bride may want you to wear your hair up. I'm going to be a bridesmaid at a wedding soon and the bride has booked us all in at a hair salon to get our hair put up.

Medium size hair because it is easy to be able to handle and you can still do most of the hairstyles

I've got mine both ways too... but the husband prefers it short... he never complains when I grow it lengthy, but is always all over him self w/the complements when I cut this off
