I am wanting to get some soil sent over here to surprise her and cheer her up. How would I get hold of the right people and who would I even talk to, to make this happen and to make sure it gets through to customs. Any ideas?

You should just try to make a nice meal with different foods from her native country. That should cheer her up. Other than that, just go get some soil from your backyard, she'll never know the difference.

Hmm, well the only idea that pops into my head is that if I were in a foreign country, I'm not sure a box of dirt from the US would cheer me up very much...

Why don't you do a little research and find out the names of some popular foods or snacks in her country? You might be able to find a place on the Internet that would send them to you. That would really put a smile on her face!

I doubt that it's the actual dirt that she misses so much as the culture and family that she left behind. Maybe a phone card would cheer her up.

How about cooking some recipes form her home country instead? I think she would like that more than the soil.
