My dad and grandpa are alcoholics. I of course plan to drink reasonably responsibly, and I haven't even gotten drunk. I've had maybe one drink in my whole life. I'd like to know how much alcohol I can handle though without becoming addicted. If perhaps I chose to drink more in the future.

It's got nothing to do with it. Alcoholism is just an inability of the liver to handle alcohol properly. The vast majority of people couldn't get addicted to booze if they stayed drunk forever. But if you have alcoholism, it's a pretty good bet you will. Trouble starts when you drink and other problems crop up more and more. Pretty soon, life is a disaster in every way. If you had alcoholism in the last two generations, it may have skipped you, but really, really doubtful.

Given your history, you should stay away from it.
