I have my monroe done but this can go for all lip piercings
PROS
Painless when pierced
Low infection risk
Easy to clean
CONS
Sometimes I go to open my mouth and my stud gets stuck on my tooth and I rip it. Man does it hurt! Lol
It is normal for the piercing to get some whitish liquid(not pus) and somecrust on it during the healing period. It will be a little red and tender. DON'T TOUCH IT- leave it alone unless your cleaning it.
The healing time is 6-8 weeks

Cons
Bacterial infection (where you had the piercing)
Excessive bleeding
Allergic reactions (especially to certain kinds of jewelry)
Damage to nerves (for example, you may lose feeling at the area that gets pierced)
Keloids (thick scarring at the piercing site)
Trauma (swallowing jewelry, tearing lip)
If that isn't enough it takes 2-3 months healing time, and is in an area that can be constantly irritated, plus it is not attractive.

The only con that I can think of is the back of the piercing rubbing on your teeth which could cause a bit of damage, but other than that I think they look nice :)
Just don't get a HUGE over the top bar/ring..

pro it can be sexy especially if you have beautiful lips
CON they are every-F'n-where... they are ubiquitous and way too popular
