If she is a Christian and agrees with what the Holy Scriptures say then point her to this:
"Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them. I am the Lord." (Leviticus 19:31)
The devotion of faith, which would manifest itself in obedience and to reverence His sanctuary Lev 19:30, is the true preservative against the superstition which is forbidden in this verse. The people were not to indulge those wayward feelings of their human nature which are gratified in magical arts and pretensions.

There are alot of mediums/psychics who are Christian (Sylvia Browne & John Edward, just to name a couple).
One does not have anything to do with another. Your Mother-In-Law is not hurting anyone by consulting someone else to help her make a decision, provided that she is not being fleeced by a phony psychic who is just out for her money.
In order to help you establish if the person whom your Mother-In-Law is consulting is legitimate, if there is a New Age store in your area, please either call the store or visit the store in person and ask if the certain psychic is considered legit or is a phony. People who work in New Ages stores usually have a resident psychic in their store and know of only reputable people. Hopefully the person your Mother-In-Law is seeing is one of these people.
Have a lovely rest of the evening. Bright Blessings.

Why such interest in the supernatural? Among the reasons given are: “Fear of death, personal experience with premonitions and widespread treatment of the topic in books and films.” Many people are also drawn in by the “entertainment value” of the occult or are “sincere people for whom the paranormal amounts to a religion or a body of knowledge that is or will prove to be scientifically valid.”
The Bible, however, takes a very definite stand against any involvement in occult practices. People so involved were strictly condemned and uprooted from the ancient nation of Israel, “for everybody doing these things is something detestable to Jehovah.” (Deuteronomy 18:10-12) Likewise, Christians are warned to keep free from spiritism.—Galatians 5:19-21; Revelation 21:8.

Rather than get in a fight with your m-i-l simply leave a piece of paper showing the section of Old Testament where Saul visits the seer who God Scares the daylights out of by allowing Samuel's Spirit to actually appear.
Add the parts of the law that say thou shalt not suffer a witch or seer to live.
Besides, if they're so psychic, why aren't they calling your M-I-L abefore hand?

It states in the bible no false profits. So where is the Christian part come in. Also if God wanted us to know the future then there would be a better way to find out rather then
giving your control over to some psychic who is full of bologna.
Ever notice psychics have problems, how is that if they know all?

You could start by doing something grotesquely un-christian. Mind your own damn business and stop worrying about the fun other are having. I know you won't because you are a good christian and you think that it's your personal mission in life to rescue her soul. You will fail this endeavor, you will get old, die, and end up the same place she is....dead. That's it, do not pass go, do not get 200 dollars. The end

Hello
Belonging to any religious faith does not mean that the ability to be open minded is always lost.
As a mature woman I sure that she has rationalized such matters a long time ago.

Well It says right in the bible that you shouldn't look at horoscopes or psychics. You need to blindly trust in God. Tell her to read her Bible, but of course, being the good Christian she is, she should have read it thousands of times.

I'm not sure you can. You can only disagree and point out scripture that references it. How sad that she relies on Madame Cleofee or whoever to make her important decisions for her. Many blessings.
