Ive been going out with my gf about 4 months, we're both 16. She told me to get her nothing for Christmas, and she was extremely serious about it. So I decided to write her a poem. Please let me know what you think about it. Thanks
My Gift to You
I checked the calendar, and what I saw,
was that Christmas was coming, it wasn’t far.
How excited I suddenly became, it seemed,
my first Christmas with you, what a dream.
I couldn’t help but let out a huge grin,
as good feelings filled me up from within.
Knowing what was coming in a short while,
forced me to let out the biggest of smiles.
So I asked you what you wanted this year,
and you told me nothing, you made that clear.
I pleaded with you, and we had a small chat,
you said I don’t want a gift, leave it at that.
Although confused I said that was okay,
I will respect what you say any day.
And with that from me you said I thank you,
I said it’s fine, but now what am I to do?

Christmas is when we give to ones we love,
the people in life we always think of.
And the one person I wanted to give to,
implored me not to, this I well knew.
Since I couldn’t buy anything for you,
I was at a complete loss for what to do.
But suddenly something occurred to me,
I knew what to give you, it was easy.
Material gifts are always very nice,
but sometimes it’s not always about the price.
I could buy you something nice from a store,
but something in my heart means so much more.
It’s not something I can go out and buy,
it’s something that comes from deep inside.
It’s better than any other gift I could think of,
and it is, quite simply, the gift of my love.
I love you more than words could ever say,
it’s a feeling I hold every single day.
Being able to hold you close to me,
makes life the best it could possibly be.
Just being able to see your smiling face,
raises my heart to the happiest place.

I simply can’t imagine life without you,
you mean the world to me, you really do.
You are the girl who wanted no present,
and through it all you were very pleasant.
I figured this Christmas would be very blue,
without a special gift from me to you.
And in the end I believe that is true,
I needed to give something special to you.
But it’s something that I could only speak of,
so I give my Christmas gift to you: my love.

That is soooo sweet. You are an amazing bf because instead of just saying "ok, she doesnt want anything, i can save some money" you spent time writing the most sweetest poem. I REALLY like it. I wish I had a bf that would do that... let lone HAVE a bf lol. Youre really sweet!

She sounds like a truly selfless person, and you're lucky to be with her.
I can't say how she'll like it, but hope she'll be moved to tears by your labor of love. I also hope she's the type that's ok with your posting it here.
Whether you finally end up together for keeps or not, somehow, I think she'll keep the framed poem and treasure it for the rest of her life.

Don't give it to her.She didn't want a gift, because she doesn't want to be obligated. She doesn't feel about you, like you feel about her. If she did,she wouldn't put limitations on Christmas gifts and such. You can think I'm crazy, but the field is littered with red flags. Just think of her letting all her girl friends read your poem and laugh at you. Call me a pessimist, but DON'T GIVE IT TO HER.

you know something? this is the sweetest thing you could do in any way for her. sounds like you really love her! i see myself so much in both of you. i would tell my bf not to get me anything too, all the time, and he'd always plead me to let him get me something, but when i said no he respected it, and that's exactly what you're doing, and it makes me smile because i see how much you love her by respecting her, yet giving her this thoughtful, sweet gift. i dont know who she is, or what she likes, but i dont have to know that to be sure that she will LOVE and APPRECIATE completely this poem. =)
i hope you the best for both of you!!!!
YAY!!!

You know it's nice to know some one would take the time to express there feelings to the one they really care for and take the time to tell perfect strangers how you feel,There is nothing wrong with that...
Can you use this as a Email card to her.

Yes!
The poems were really sweet and she can keep them forever.
I was going to suggest a rose to go with it but the frames were and even better idea.
I love frames.
You're a sweetheart. =]

You wrote it - you framed it - and NOW youare asking strangers if they like it? If we say Yecch, are you going to change it?
Is it you? Does it come from your heart? Then it's terrific. As an editor, I would make suggestions, ways I think it could be improved - but as it stands, it represents you.
Go for it.

Your girl friend should be touched by this sweet, honest( from the heart) love poem!
If there is no reaction from her, she is not the girl for you.

Wow! It's a bit long, but that's OK... I wish more adults put this much work into the things they wrote!
Great job -- she'll love it!
