You're just going to hurt for a couple of days until you get used to them. If the pain is too bad, call your orthodontist and tell him you need something stronger than tylenol.

Honestly all the answers that they gave you are all you can really do. Just take some Tylenol, or Advil, and eat softer things. After your teeth adjust to them they will be fine. Remember braces are for correcting any problems, or straighting teeth. It is physically moving your teeth, so you will be uncomfortable for awhile. When I got my braces they gave me this flat mouth guard like thingy to chew on so my teeth had something to bite down on and it relived some of my pain. But once the pain is gone, you are actually going to really like them. I love changing colors, especially when I'm going to a party. I always call up my dentist and ask if I could come in to have my colors changed on my brackets, so they match what I'm wearing. Even if you don't end up liking your braces, just wait until you get them off, and how pretty your teeth will be! Good Luck!

When you said soft food, did you mean solid food? Because when I got braces a couple months ago, it hurt too and my mom made me rice soup and it kept me full and it didn't hurt. You can try that too. Eat soup. For the pain, if the tylenol doesn't work, don't take it anymore and eventually it will go away. Try to avoid talking and moving your mouth and it should go away soon. Good Luck.

Try Ibuprofin. It is a differnet type of drug than tylenol so you can take them both. Ibuprofin is an antiinflamitory, it should work better. And sorry, but you're just going to have to get used to the pain like everyone eventually does. It will get easier as the week goes on. Eat lot's of Ramen.

I had braces, and my son has braces, and yes, they do hurt. But it's only for the first couple of days after the wires and brackets have been put on or adjusted. Will your parents allow you to take Advil (with food). Try eating yogurt or jello, pudding, soup. Drink milkshakes (no raw eggs), but put bananas in them. Ice cream might temporarily numb your teeth for a few minutes.
