is very tender and starting to become raw. I do not have dental insurance and cannot afford to go to a dentist at the moment. Does anyone know of anything that will help? Any suggestions?? Please help!

the cheapest way is to get it filled off or it can later lead to cancer of the tongue. rub it off with a file.

I've had the same problem! I couldn't get to the dentist very soon either. The dental wax is a good idea, so is Kanka liquid, it forms a seal over a sore and takes the pain away, it makes a whitish/brownish spot so don't worry about that and can be used often. It will burn when you first put it on but after that it's good.

Eventually the rubbing will wear the sharp edge down, and stop hurting your cheek, sorry you can't get to the dentist quick enough! Mine was because of a bad wisdom tooth that had to be taken out anyway.

That's not a good thing to happen. A part of my tooth also broke off and I didn't do anything about it and after a couple of weeks it started hurting really bad. I didn't have insurance either but I had to go to a dentist and they said I needed a root canal because my tooth got infected. I had to pay like $400 for the root canal and a cap and the root canal was one of the most painful experiences of my life! So my advice is spend a few hundred bucks the most and get it fixed now before you have to go through what I did.

i had that happen also and could not go to the dentist right away so i went to the store and bought dental wax, mainly used for braces but formed it over my tooth and it worked very well it even took away the sensitivity. you can put on the thickness you need. but remove it before you eat.

you can get a tempoary fill in at the local pharmacy. They have some stuff that can hold you over for about 6 months and you mix it and fill in the hole. also.... use some sand paper and file the tooth down to make it smooth. They used to do that back in the 1700's and it worked fine for them. Make sure you have a clean mouth before you fill your own tooth. Ask the pharmacist for the stuff if you cant find it on the toothpaste aisle in the store, wal mart surely has it

You could try dental wax. It's what kids use who have braces.
