Many times, and it's my nature to get to the bottom of things like that, to think them through until I figure out what is wrong.

100% of the time, what was wrong was me. I was either not paying attention, just in a bad mood, letting some petty thing get in the way of my focus, not doing the hard introspective work of worship, etc, etc, etc.

A good example: I don't go to the closest church to my home because of it's "high mass", high-falutin style. I mean seriously, the woman who leads the singing actually rolls her "r"s like she's singing in some old English court. "Glorrrrrrrrry to God in the Highest... and peace to His people on earrrrrrrth."

Drives me nuts becuase I find it verrrrry prrrrrretentious. :)

But once in a while I go anyway, and when I get my heart in the right place, nothing at all is wrong, because I'm focused on the right thing.

There have been a couple times in the last couple weeks when I was sitting in church and found myself doubtful. I was raised in a Christian home and I really found Jesus last year and I love him with all my heart. I know that no matter what happens, I will always be his and he won't let me wander. But recent tragedies have made my faith weaken a little.

My little brother, 13, was killed by a drunk driver almost 3 weeks ago. He was the best example of a young Christian I knew. He was a sweet little boy, didn't talk trash, didn't get in trouble. Baptized in 4th grade and led worship in church. He was always kind to people, in both school and other places, who didn't have friends. The Bible was open on his lap in the hospital. I just didn't understand why such a bad things could happen to such a great kid, let alone right before Christmas. Coming onto Yahoo Answers is helping me move through that pain and come back to God. But I know it will take a lot longer before my faith is as strong as it was before.

God bless you.

Dont know how many I have felt it..

I am a bit apathetic when it comes to this going to church thing... I cannot cope with people telling me what is right and what is wrong and when I ask they don't have any proof.. They are just going along with word of mouth; its just not pragmatic.. For example, "why do u refer to Jesus as God and the Bible clearly states different? From my perspective that a bit blasphemous...

The typical church that I go to is too LOUD, when the pastor is preaching he shout when I can hear him perfectly fine and I don't like the music(typical gospel).I prefer the hip hop type or Dancehhall/Reggae Gospel.l If I don't like the music I wont like the church, music is a big part of my life.... Next, you gotta wear dresses(HATE them) WITH HEELS(also HATE them), not comfortable at all..

When I find one I am comfortable in and a religion that suits me, I will start going again...

I think people just go long with what people tell them because they don't know any better... For example, if you are raised in a Christian home you are likely to grow up being a Christian.. After a while you just get brainwashed into things..

I love going to church to attend Mass. Receiving our Lord Jesus in the sacrament of the Eucharist is an indescribably beautiful experience, and I love the liturgy. Catholicism is a wonderful faith that satisfies my mind, heart, and soul.

So if something's not right when I'm in church, it's my fault and mine alone.

No, actually when I am in church with my fellow Christians and we are all worshipping God I feel I'm at home. During my worship of Him I feel His arms embrace me. I'm where I belong and feel better than anywhere else. Each sermon the minister preaches opens up my heart more and fills my mind with more knowledge.

There are many feelings that one feels in church. Lately church has not been the same. God has not changed but the followers have. Everyone is fighting against one another and there is no longer peace. God wants his children to love one another but instead they hate one another due to jealousy.

I used to when I was in the LDS church. Then I began a relationship with Jesus Christ the Living God, and my life changed for the better. God is awesome.

resist the devil and he will flee, satan will try to put thoughts in your mind to build strongholds if you are not careful you will think it is your thought you can reject that thought if you do satan must accept it and flee and he may try to pass it by you again stand-fast in your rejection, this may take some effort especially if you accept everything that pops into your head. You might try Joyce Meyers book Battlefield of the Mind or Watchman Nee love one another. I will be praying for you.

well... with the church. plenty of times.
i have been to churches that burned bibles... and said that in a thousand years we wont be alive anyway.
then i went to a church that required you to "tithe" the church-- they would connect your bank account to the church and then take out "up to 30 percent" for "God's needs."
yep. plenty of times.
