My 15 mnth old daughter had the MMR shot last tuesday...(8 days ago) her pcp said it might take a week for the usual fever/rash to show up...but since the day after (wednesday) she's had very very loose stools.
She tends to have loose stools when something in her body changes anyway (lack of sleep, new food, a cold, ect), and I know she has a sensative stomach..but it seems excessive now...
No fevers, but she doesn't want to eat much, and she's sleeping horribly (not wanting to nap)
I asked my sister-in-law about her daughter's reaction, and she said Kelsie had the loose stools for a month after the shot! Has this happened to anyone else? Is this normal? I really don't want to call the doctor because when I do call I feel dumb, since they tell me "as long as she's peeing, drinking and acting normal she's fine"
it's just loose, not watery-diarrhea..sorta like when she was a newborn...any ideas?

the ironic part is she was wicked constipated the weeks before the visit, and her pcp perscribed Lactulose (it's becaus eshe drinks soy milk). We haven't had to give it to her yet obviously!

but isn't it true that she can't go to a public school if she doesn't have all her shots up to date?
I have to say, I probably will continue with the shots...only because there is much more proof of the 'for' than the 'con'. Who can honestly say without a doubt that they cause autisim. Do I have that in the back of my mind? Yes. But I also have the fear that she'll get scarlet fever or german measles and die.
I'll choose the lesser of two evils I guess..and I say the lesser..because kids have been getting these shots for years..and there's only been an uprise of autism recently...I think it has more to do with 1) the CRAP they put in food than shots and 2) an increase in the use of fertility drugs. I think I'm going to do a research project on this...(i went to school for child psychology)....it's very interesting..

Try filling her with bland pasta foods like pastina with butter. Bits of egg, bananas, etc. This should bind her a bit. The shot may have nothing to do with this. She is fine. The MMR is good for her. Don't let anyone tell you differently.

Sounds like a reaction to me. This is the vaccination that was causing gut permeability in children. Not safe. MMR is the vaccine that is associated with the most reactions. They have not proven the link between autism and MMR, but they have also not disproven the link. I know that there are risks of not vaccinating, but there are also some scary risks associated with vaccinating. Some vaccines that children get still contain thimerosal (mercury). The flu shot that is given to 3yr olds is the same as the adult vaccine, but a smaller dose (so there is mercury in it). Also many vaccines contain formaldehyde as a preservative. Honestly, I know that people say the risks of having a bad reaction are low, but do you want to take the chance of your child having a bad reaction. Also, I have been looking at each individual vaccine and the need. Hepatitis B is sexually transmitted, so the risk for an infant is not there. Hepatitis A, is not needed either, many times children can have it without symptoms, and then they are immune for life (that is more than a vaccine can do). Mumps are usually asymptomatic, so this vaccine is not always necessary. Diptheria can be cured with an antibiotic. Measels used to be a normal childhood disease, adn people gained lifetime immunity. Vaccinations do not give lifetime immunity. That is why people have to get booster shots... If you are torn and need more time to think about it, delay the rest of the vaccines and you can always get them later. But you will never be able to take them back. I am also not trying to force my views. It is for you to decide. If you want some more reading material on the subject, e-mail me.

EDIT- Children do not have to get vaccinated to go to school. There are waivers in every state. Check it out for your state. Also vaccines go directly into the blood stream, while food passes through the digestive tract.

She can still go to Public School, all you have to do is sign a waver claiming that you choose not to imm. and then if there is an out break, then your child cannot attend school. That is all! Don't worry

Episodes of loose stools are very common in toddlers. They are not side effects of the MMR.

You should have been given a sheet outlining the side effects of the vaccine.

It's not listed as a reaction to the vaccine on the CDC website, but then again neither is autism or SIDS so who knows........
