The parable of the barren fig tree is a parable of Jesus recorded in the Gospel of Luke.[1] The parable has no parallels in other gospels. A vinekeeper holds out hope that a barren fig tree will bear fruit.
He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none.
Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground?
And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it:
And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.
– KJV

The gospels of Matthew and Mark include an account of Jesus withering a fig tree. In (Matthew 21:18–22) and Mark (Mark 11:12–14 and Mark 20-24), Jesus and some associates are leaving Bethany when Jesus approaches a fig tree to collect fruit from it. Since it is the Passover season which would have been early April, the time for figs had not passed. That is, the figs would still be upon the trees and not yet gathered. Hence, when Jesus approaches the fig tree it made no sense that it would have leaves advertising fruit it did not bear. Seeing this, Jesus curses the fig tree to never bear fruit again. In Mark, the next day Simon Peter notices that the fig tree has withered. In Matthew, the fig tree withers immediately and is noticed at that time by unnamed disciples.

I don't know, I think he is making it up. (conflating a number of verses, and giving them his own interpretation) Jerimiah 8 speaks of barren fig trees. Joel 1:12 talks of bad fig trees, and Joel 2:22 figs yeilding. I think you can access a concordance on the net, and check for barren, or fig.

oh, this is somewhere (i'm not sure, double check) but this is in the gospels....because Jesus is in the desert i think, and he goes to a fig tree, but the fruit is rotten, and so he curses the tree so it may never produce or harvest anything ever again. it has a symbolic meaning of your relationship with Christ. but you can look on www.biblereference.com or google it to help your search.! Good luck!

The only scriptures I can think of is in Mark chapter 11. Where jesus cursed a fig tree for not bearing fruit, even though it was not the season for figs.

Here is one verse that fits the description: "I will bring back my exiled people Israel. They will rebuild the ruined cities and live in them. They will plant vineyards and drink their wine. They will make gardens and eat their fruit. I will plant Israel in their own land never again to be uprooted from the land I have given them," says the Lord your God.

The occurrence of 'fig tree' is too frequent to help you.

However, what you ask may be said to be true for the scripture given here in Joel:

22Be not afraid, ye beasts of the field; for the pastures of the wilderness do spring, for the tree beareth its fruit, the fig-tree and the vine do yield their strength. 23Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in Jehovah your God; for he giveth you the former rain in just measure, and he causeth to come down for you the rain, the former rain and the latter rain, in the first month . 24And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the vats shall overflow with new wine and oil. 25And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the canker-worm, and the caterpillar, and the palmer-worm, my great army which I sent among you. 26And ye shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, and shall praise the name of Jehovah your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you; and my people shall never be put to shame. 27And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am Jehovah your God, and there is none else; and my people shall never be put to shame.
