Many kids will have night terrors. It can reflect something that they've thought about or a story they heard or something they are afraid of.. He may have been dreaming about ants or bees. You can't assume that something bad happened to him and that's why he had bad dreams. I doesn't mean that you are a bad parent. All you can do is try to wake him and comfort him. If it makes you feel any better, he probably won't remember it in the morning.

Hello,
Very much could be night mares. Do you have the child on ANY medications, over the counter or not??
Does the child have a fever?
It is a stressful time of the year even for kids. Leave the light on, and make sure the child knows you are there.

You may want to take the child in to the doctors when you can. Even children have sleeping problems. Let the doctor know of all the meds the child is on and what the child has eaten. Food has a lot to play in this.
Wish your little one well!!

My son is two years old as well and he had night terrors for almost a year. The best thing to do when they are doing this is to not touch them or talk to him/her. My son's pediatrician said to lay him on the floor (padded of course) and to just let him 'wake up' before even going near him. For some reason they are very sensitive to touch and sound when they're going through this. I would contact your pediatrician and let them know what's going on. Good luck, I'm sure your baby will outgrow this.

It sounds like night terrors. I think you should discuss it with your pediatrician.

Dr. Richard Ferber's book, Solve Your Child's Sleep Problems, discusses the difference between nightmares and night terrors. He has a few suggestions to try that worked on many of my patients, but not all.

Yep, night terrors. DO not try to wake him either. just talk quietly and try to get him the lay back down. Give him some water or even milk if you must. This too shall pass.

Could be night terrors.Has something tramatic happened recently?? Has someone close to him died?? Divorce in the family?? Try to talk to him and find out whats going on. Talk to him during a safe time of day. Like at lunch. I know 2 year olds cant really express themselves well, kids like to draw and play act so try that. Maybe something else going on. I hate to think the worse, but if the episodes continue, i would ask the doctor about maybe running test both medically and physically and well as mental. Good luck to you and I am praying for the best for you and your son

I would bring this up to his pediatrician or regular doctor. To calm him for the time being, try some soft music with a night light. Reassure him that you are there for him. Poor thing.
