I have a handful of video tapes with my kids on them from when they were young. I fear the tape is going bad and would like to know the best way to get it into the computer to do some editing and them preserve them on DVD

TY in advance...(or do I have to take it to a professional with all the bells & whistle equipment?)

The ATI stuff looks a tad confusing, so that would be linking my VCR into my computer by cable (of some sort), and being able to play, then edit the tapes?

You need something such as the ATI TV Wonder. It allows you to connect the VCR or other source to your computer, and then record it as your VCR plays it back.

Unless you want to spend time editing and adding graphics, it would be easier to take to wall mart and convert to CD.

Or you can get the software and hardware to do it yourself. This would all depend upon your computer and what inputs you have.

Either way, best to convert to digital, that old vhs tape will deteriorate over time, or may get lost.

Hope this is of help.
