My GPA is a 3.5

i will start by saying my freshman year GPA was 2.95 because i hated my new school and tried to rebel.
sophmore year- 3.65
and as of now i have a 4.0 in junior year
i admit i could have done better in freshman year but whatever, there is no changing that now.
I am fine with my 3.5 GPA but why whenever i tell some one that or ask or college help, do they make that GPA seem low, i used to think anything 3.0 and above was better but people seem to think that my GPA sucks. What do you think, is it really that low and why do you think they consider it to be low.

Eh, 3.5 isn't THAT low . . . I only had like a 3.65 or something like that in high school because I was a slacker at first. People might think it's low because high school is pretty easy compared to college. 3.0 is slightly on the low side for high school, since it translates into a straight B average. Don't worry about it though . . . nobody cares about what you did in high school after you get out of college (hell, not even while you're in college), and your GPA certainly will not prevent you from going to college. Good night!

I don't think it's low.
I went to a very competitive high school where a 3.5 was considered average. I suppose people think that--and seem to disapprove of your GPA--because the closer you are to a 4.0, the better the chance you have of getting into a really fabulous college (not that you can't get in to a great college with a 3.5--you absolutely can!), and people often (wrongly) equate going to a good college (ie. an Ivy) with success.
You've done very well--a 4.0 is incredible! And colleges will see that you've improved and appreciate that.

One of the things which the Admissions Board or the Dean of Admissions will look at is improvement . You are demonstrating that. Then what have you done besides improving your grades.? Do you belong to any clubs, participate in other activities.? Express yourself with some other word than "sucks" Keep at it girl ! You have a year and a half to prove to yourself( and others) that you have the 4.0 mentality.

I totally agree. Having too high of a GPA can also show colleges that you aren't in difficult enough of classes. It sounds like you're on the right track. If you're not taking any honors or AP type classes, you might try one. They are often easier because there is not as much busy work, plus they cover more interesting material.
