Now out of curiosity, how many guys actually believe that it is better to show someone that you love them then say it all the time? My boyfriend who is wonderful doesn't like to say I love you because he thinks it is an overused phrase, he said that I should know how he feels about me by the way he acts towards me and what he does. Is this true? Also, if a guy wants to take you across the country to meet his family is that a sign that you are moving toward the next level of the relationship?

I agree with him. It's become cliche and it has lost its meaning because of overuse. It's better to show it than say it. Because that's how you know it's real.

"Also, if a guy wants to take you across the country to meet his family is that a sign that you are moving toward the next level of the relationship?"

Yes, that's what it means. I mean, he wouldn't take you across the country to show his family and then dump you, ya know?

your boyfriend sounds like a guy i would agree with on a lot of things. "I love you" is a phrase that gets thrown around way to much. and when it is overused it loses its meaning. If a girl constantly tells me that she loves me when we are just friends and then we actually start dating, how am i supposed to know when she really means it? that is why it is overused. think of it this way. When the day comes that your boyfriend does say "I love you" you will know that he truly means it from the bottom of his hear.

and if he is taking you across the country to meet the parents then yes you are moving forward in your relationship. You sound very important to him.

If the words I Love You are used too often they don't have the same meaning and are only words. If a guy wants to take you across the country to meet his family it could mean that he wants to take the relationship to the next level, or maybe not.

This is not a ? for the guys but for the whole human race. There is a book out there called "The Five Love Languages" it will explain alot on why you say it all the time wanting to hear it back and he tries to show you and he wants you to show it back.
