Yes... I suspect a chemical dependency evaluation would reveal you are likely chemical dependent to alcohol in an intermitent pattern. I was where you are when I was an undergrad and in grad school. I have been sober for 8 years.
The way you wrote this tells me a lot. First, you are attempting to minimize your binging episode by "converting" your using episodes to "0.75 episodes per week". Minimizing is one of the signs of a "problem"
Second, you are "drinking for effect". That is you are drinking to maintain a certain "state". Alcoholics and drug users "know" what they want to feel, how to get there with alcohol or drugs, and how to maintain it. That's why they call alcohol and drugs "mood altering". You are manipulating your moods via alcohol.
You are also having some consequences ... i.e. poor grades. Probably have other consequences you haven't thought of but that will come out during a chemical dependency evaluation.
Get help fast.... Congrats on recognizing you have a problem and being upfront to describe it so well.

Sounds to me like you may have a problem- mainly because you are already questioning it yourself,,,,,,,,you dont have to drink everyday to be an alcoholic, but if you are finding you need to drink excessivlely to feel good- it may indicate the start of a bigger problem,,,,,,,I am speaking from experience. I am a recovering alcoholic.. I used to drink like you do- then over time it turned into every day. pretty soon, my life was unmanageable. Its a long road to recovery , but not if you address the issue sooner rather than later. Good luck. Jo

If you are asking the question, than you have a problem. You should really consider a change in lifestyle soon, before you can't change. Make a conscious effort to not drink. If you can not, get help.
Good Luck!

Sound more like binge drinking. Read the book Smashed. And you will see what binge drinking can lead to.

Yes you are. You have a different type of alchoholism than someone who drinks daily, but you binge drink often which can be just as bad.

No, not yet...but you have to cut down to about 2 and maybe one extra if you eat something before 3rd. After 3, that's it. Otherwise, you're going to get alcohol poisoning as well as become a bona-fide alcoholic.

Yes, you are. When college is over, you will then depend on alcohol when your wife get on your nerves and the kids are screaming in your ear. Better stop while you are ahead.
