If he can't or won't eat, and can't even walk, this isn't something you can help on your own. He should be taken to the vet immediately, started on IV fluids right away to hydrate and give him some calories. If he doesn't begin to eat within a day or two of that, he may have some permanent damage as the result of malnutrition/dehydration that will require more extensive vet care.
A week without food shouldn't cause such extensive damage, but he is apparently really unwell and only a qualified vet can help you get him up to par.
Please take the poor guy in asap.

If he is having trouble walking you should take him to the vet. Most folks know that chocolate can be toxic to dogs, but I saw an article on the news that said that gum/mints can also be toxic to dogs because of the xyletol; it said that their system cannot handle the sugar, that it causes their body to produce too much insulin, and their blood sugar drops too low - some of the symptoms they mentioned were listlissness, wobbly/falling, etc. They said even 1 piece of gum can cause serious injury or death. I hope he hasn't found or eaten something that might make him sick.
Is he up to date with his shots? Some illnesses that can be serious can start out with him refusing to eat, then get much worse very fast. Someone I knew had a dog who was listless and refused to eat; they were watching it closely, thinking it was just sick, and that if it didn't get better in a day or so, they'd take it to the vet; but by the next day, the dog was very sick throwing up, bloody stools, they rushed it to the vet but it was too late, the dog had parvo and had to be put down, and this whole incident was within a 24 hour period of time - - some illnesses really work that quick so watch him very closely.
If you think he might be just depressed or afraid, you might watch him very very closely; If he really just wants to be held, then hold him, let him sit on your lap, and get some canned food or something that he really really likes, then cut it into tiny bites and handfeed it to him while he is on your lap. If he won't eat it at first, just lay a tiny bite or two on your lap and don't push. Maybe if he gets comfortable or realizes you aren't going to leave him, he might eat a bite or two. Then you can slowly get him to eat the rest. Also, sometimes, if a dog has eaten something that disagreed with them or isn't feeling well, sometimes it won't eat; I know that milk helps with some dogs if they aren't feeling well. You can get doggy vitamins at Wal-Mart or a local pet store also; they might help keep his immune system up.

You need to get that dog to a Vet asap. Either that or go to Petsmart and get Nutrical. It is in a tube and is about 50 dollars but if you put some on your finger and force it in the dogs mouth it will give him the nutrients that he needs. You're dog's sugar is probably dangerously low, and he could possibly die if you don't do something. The Nutrical is a quick fix, and within the hour you will see him doing better. You can also try hand feeding him, mixing his food with wet food, or giving him some white rice and boiled chicken breast. My Pomeranian Puppy wouldnt eat when we first got him because he was depressed, and we used the Nutrical and it worked wonders. Your Dog is probably scared and very weak, and probably depressed from the whole experience. Please let me know how your Dog is doing! I feel soooooo bad! MrsCrystikal@yahoo.com

I have had the same problem before , when i was watching over my parents dog . The only thing that seemed to work was to give him dog treats and try taking him on a walk or outside often for a couple of mintues at a time.

Could he have resorted to eating something harmful just out of desperation? Have you noticed any signs around the house? You would think the poor thing would be SO hungry!
I think your only real choice is to take him to the vet.
Our dogie didn't seem to want to eat much recently..can't blame her, it has been SO cold!! I finally made her dry food into a sort of "stew" by making a gravy with a little luke-warm water. She seemed much more interested.
Needless to say....don't count on THAT person for just about anything!!!
Hope he feels better!

Try & get him to drink some water so he's not dehydrated, then tempt him with something really nice, maybe some cheese or roast chicken. If he still doesn't eat, you may need to take him to the vet - he sounds like he is very weak. Oh, & find the idiot who was supposed to be looking after the dogs & punch the &^%$$* out of him/her.

Take him to the vet. If the person didn't take care of him he could be dehydrated which would make him weak. Depending upon how long you've been he could be malnurished.

Try some bacon or peanutbutter on a spoon. If he's not drinking take him to the VET.
