The Catholic Church believes that those who die never hearing of Christ but have sought the truth and does the will of God as they understand it can be saved. See Romans 2:13-16.
If they died before Jesus died for our sins and opened the gates of heaven for us, then they waited in what is called in the Old Testament Abraham's bosom or Sheol. This has been mistranslated as hell.
Catholics believe that after Jesus died on the cross, he descended into Sheol, the place of the dead. While there He freed the holy souls who awaited their savior in Abraham's bosom.

With love in Christ.

Jesus did not say that directly, but it is in the Bible at revelation 20:13-14
Rev. 20:13, 14, KJ: “The sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell* delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire.” (So the dead will be delivered from hell. Notice also that hell is not the same as the lake of fire but will be cast into the lake of fire.) (*“Hell,” Dy, Kx; “the world of the dead,” TEV; “Hades,” NE, AS, RS, JB, NW.)
But the idea about hell may be different then you think. “Much confusion and misunderstanding has been caused through the early translators of the Bible persistently rendering the Hebrew Sheol and the Greek Hades and Gehenna by the word hell. The simple transliteration of these words by the translators of the revised editions of the Bible has not sufficed to appreciably clear up this confusion and misconception.”—The Encyclopedia Americana (1942), Vol. XIV, p. 81.
Translators have allowed their personal beliefs to color their work instead of being consistent in their rendering of the original-language words. For example: (1) The King James Version rendered she’ohl′ as “hell,” “the grave,” and “the pit”; hai′des is therein rendered both “hell” and “grave”; ge′en·na is also translated “hell.” (2) Today’s English Version transliterates hai′des as “Hades” and also renders it as “hell” and “the world of the dead.” But besides rendering “hell” from hai′des it uses that same translation for ge′en·na. (3) The Jerusalem Bible transliterates hai′des six times, but in other passages it translates it as “hell” and as “the underworld.” It also translates ge′en·na as “hell,” as it does hai′des in two instances. Thus the exact meanings of the original-language words have been obscured.
And since the dead experiance no pain nor remember anything, this shows that the Bible hell is just the common grave of mankind. Notice the following scriptures.
Eccl. 9:5, 10: “The living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all . . . All that your hand finds to do, do with your very power, for there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in Sheol,* the place to which you are going.” (If they are conscious of nothing, they obviously feel no pain.) (*“Sheol,” AS, RS, NE, JB; “the grave,” KJ, Kx; “hell,” Dy; “the world of the dead,” TEV.)
Ps. 146:4: “His spirit goes out, he goes back to his ground; in that day his thoughts* do perish.” (*“Thoughts,” KJ, 145:4 in Dy; “schemes,” JB; “plans,” RS, TEV.)
Does the Bible indicate that the soul survives the death of the body?
Ezek. 18:4: “The soul* that is sinning—it itself will die.” (*“Soul,” KJ, Dy, RS, NE, Kx; “the man,” JB; “the person,” TEV.)
“The concept of ‘soul,’ meaning a purely spiritual, immaterial reality, separate from the ‘body,’ . . . does not exist in the Bible.”—La Parole de Dieu (Paris, 1960), Georges Auzou, professor of Sacred Scripture, Rouen Seminary, France, p. 128.
“Although the Hebrew word nefesh [in the Hebrew Scriptures] is frequently translated as ‘soul,’ it would be inaccurate to read into it a Greek meaning. Nefesh . . . is never conceived of as operating separately from the body. In the New Testament the Greek word psyche is often translated as ‘soul’ but again should not be readily understood to have the meaning the word had for the Greek philosophers. It usually means ‘life,’ or ‘vitality,’ or, at times, ‘the self.’”—The Encyclopedia Americana (1977), Vol. 25, p. 236.

Jesus did offer every human a way to escape eternal damnation in hell. He did this by coming to earth, living a sinless life, and dieing for the sins for all mankind.
You see, the Bible tells us that the wages or price for sin is death. It also tells us that every single person has sinned. The only way to pay for the sins of the world is for one to live a perfect life and yet still die for sin. Jesus did that.
All we have to do is just a few simple steps...
1. We must admit that we are sinner
2. We must realize the price for sin and that Jesus paid that price.
3. We must put all our trust in Jesus to take us to Heaven when we die
A simple prayer to pray is this"
"Lord I know I am a sinner and I know that the price for sin is death. I thank you for sending your Son to come and take that price for me. I now accept that gift of salvation that has been provided and ask you to take me to Heaven when I die. Thank you for saving me. Amen"
Just remember, it is not the prayer that gets someone saved, but rather the heart.

Jesus never spoke of a hell... Jesus never had a consciousness of duality. He said the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand. And that means that the kingdom of heaven is all around you. He never said about anything this universe being a hamburger universe... Heaven on the top and hell on the bottom.. Think about that... If was never taught by Jesus to have a duality!

Actually, Jesus never said that.
Jesus said that the only way to avoid going to Hell when you die is to believe in His redeeming work on the cross, ask Him to forgive you of your sins, and have Him as your Lord.

Jesus did not say any such thing. He only said there is a possible way to avoid Hell and it is by believing in his name and keeping his commandments.

Not all that is there in bible is word of God. Bible contains words of historians, scribes, translators, literature, short stories, sermons, and letters, and many true words have lost their original meaning and context.
A true christian will only be a true chrisitian if he looks at words of Jesus only (completly ignoring what historians say that contradict with words of Jesus.)
Bible was originally in currently dead languages (armaic/ hebrew), with first bible written centuries after Jesus by people who never met him.
The trinity is a false doctrine from about the year 325 AD, based partly on pagan, older triune gods.
It is not in the bible unless you really, really stretch it to fit.
Muslims believe in the message of Jesus the massaya (peace be upon him) who said:
Jesus said:
A) Mark 12:29:
"the Lord our God, the lord is One"
B) Metthew: 26:39:
"He went a little farther and fell on His face and prayed"
Jesus prayed to one God
C) Matthew 4:10
"You shall worship the Lord, your God, and him only you shall serve"
D) john 14:28 reads--
" You heard that I said to you,I am going away and i am coming back to you. If you loved me , you would rejoice that I am going my way to the Father,BECAUSE THE FATHER IS GREATER THAN I AM"
E) Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God:
John 8:54
F) But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.
Mark 13:32
G) Most truly I say to you, the son cannot do a single thing of his own initiative but only what he beholds the father doing.
John 5:19
H) And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
Matthew 19:17
I) Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me
John 7:16
Trinity was invented by Paul, an evolved concept in christianity, 200 years after Jesus, and that's how confused and divided the concept that Jesus preached. Word "son" was used in bible for general human beings and other prophets also. "we all are the children of father in heavens" indicates that word "son" was used in different meaning.
The belief that Jesus died for our sins, is not what is Jesus preached clearly. It contradicts with interpretations done by scribes/ historians centuries after Jesus:
Matt 5:20 For I tell you, unless your righteousness (your uprightness and your right standing with God) is more than that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
There is no guranteed heaven for anyone, this life is a test, whether you pass and enter heaven or fail,.
Ex 16:4 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a day's portion every day, that I may test them, whether or not they will walk in My instruction.
Matt 3:2 And saying, Repent (think differently; change your mind, regretting your sins and changing your conduct), for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
Romans 1:25 (New International Version)
25 They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen
Jesus, Moses, Mohammad (p.b.u.h), they all worship the same God, the God of Ibrahim. All prophets taught "surrendering one's will to God" that is the meaning of word "Islam". In any book of bible you will not find word "christianity", but you will find Jesus teachings to be "surrender your will to God" many times.
Mohammad (peace be upon him) was also a messenger of God, who never claimed to be God, the same way Jesus or Moses never claimed to be God, nor did they ever say worship me.
Look at www.todayislam.com and discover what some most intellectual priests discovered., very interesting stories, makes me cry to see why God sent us here, and what we are doing.
