I want to join the Military but I do not want to cut my long pretty hair, so is there a branch in the Military that does not require women to cut their hair during bootcamp?

The only branch that I know of that cuts women's hair at Basic is the Navy, even if you chop your hair off before you go, they will still cut it... With that being said, everyone here is correct and there are certain guidelines and regulations that your hair has to meet.

For example: in the Air Force your bun cannot exceed 3" in bulk, the longer you hair the bigger the bun, now if your hair is thin that isn't a problem but with thick hair, it can only be so long before your bun is 3" in bulk. You can also wear in in a french braid, as long as it doesn't come past the bottom of your collar you are fine. You can keep your long hair in the Air Force, but how fast can you wash all that hair? You literally only get 3-5min showers, now can you wash all of that hair that fast and get yourself clean? The longest shower I can remember was maybe 7mins and that was about 4-5wks into basic.

Also, you don't get a lot of time to get ready or do anything and your hair always has to be pulled back, so most girls leave basic and their hair will be mildewed from constantly pulling it back while its wet, it will never fully get dry. I had to wash my hair so many times when I finally got to tech school just to get the smell of the mildew out. But it is completely up to you. Good luck in whatever you choose.

The Air Force does not require female trainees to cut hair, however (this is a pretty big HOWEVER):
Very exacting standards are enforced (as already mentioned by some other contributors)
Very severe time restrictions are placed upon all trainees--you will have little time to meet those exacting standards.

Many female trainees find cutting the hair to within regulation is better than trying to meet the standards with longer hair--and taking a lot of heat for failing.

You don't have to cut your hair in any branch of the military. You just need to keep your hair pinned up above the bottom of your neck. You also can't have any hairstyles that interfere with the wearing of your hat. For example a beehive (but who wears those kinds of hairstyles anymore).

No branch will require you to cut your hair; actually, your hair length cannot exceed the BOTTOM edge of your collar for the Army. Also, if you cannot keep your bangs (if you have them) out of your eyes, they need to be pinned back as they cannot touch your eyebrows. Any clips that you use to fasten your hair must be the same color as your hair also, or clear. They must also be unadorned, meaning plain. You cannot have 'pig tails' or pony tails, your hair must be secured firmly to your head. Those are the Army regs.

Well, one thing you will get over real fast is your vanity. Cut your hair. It will be in the way other wise. You also will have about 3 mins everyday to fix it (if you are lucky). After training, you can let it grow to within the limits of the regs.

You don't have to cut your hair but you need to make sure you can wear it within regulations.
It needs to be above the top of the collar. Just keep in mind you don't have much time in basic to shower.
