It really depends on my question. Some I expect funny answers or even violation notices (no I'm not letting it go). Some I really want information be it first hand knowledge or great links.

Length rarely matters if it is interesting and informative, just not cut and paste or sermons/lectures that is such a reason for thumbs down.

That all said I have given best answers to those who completely go against what I was looking for. Some because their answer was compelling and thought provoking or because it completely lightened my mood when I was feeling nasty.

Depends on the question. Some of my questions are silly, so a long serious answer to those just make me think, "Doesn't anyone have a sense of humor anymore?"

Some questions are serious though, and for those I want a serious, detailed answer. Links can be good if I am asking for information on what the link leads to. Links that seem only vaguely related to the question are just irritating.

It all depends on my mood and what I'm asking. Sometimes, I'm looking for insight from others. Other times I want to learn about something I have no clue about. Other times I want to provoke thought, and then there are those times I just love being silly on here :)

So, I do like all types of answers, as long as they are appropriate to the questions. I do prefer detailed answers that adequately answer, and include a citation.

I'm happy for all the answers I get, whether they are Funny/Serious, Detailed/Short, Links or not..., or anything else. How a question is answered is not as important as that some took the time to share a thought!

Funny is great. As far as detailed vs short that depends. If its a cut and paste job its an automatic no deal for best answer. If its obviously written by the person answering that scores some points with me. I am not a big link fan.

I am fast arriving at the conclusion that there is very little point in asking a question, nor is there any point in answering a question either. There is no room for any kind of serious debate about the subject of religion, as those who are confirmed in their faith are not in possession of any form of scope to have an philosophical debate and would rather report anything that may challenge their core beliefs.

Further, that the majority of questions asked are based on requiring affirmation of the question askers views, which again requires no scope for debate and simply requires the answerer to somewhat pointlessly confirm in the affirmative.

I like that I can get hilarious answers to some of my serious, thought out questions and times I can get really detailed, knowledgeable answers to some of my inane, humorous questions.

I'm trying to give up hoping for answers because some of the best answers are totally unexpected.

II prefer serious, detailed answers. If I'm asking a question regarding something other than personal opinions then I like to get a link

Good ones. i.e. something original, which may be funny or serious depending on the question, and have links if they are worth actually following.
P.S. You can put the hat in the box for next year now!
