I guess that's why they say you need faith. I've gone to seminary, attended and taught so many Biblical classes that it is mind boggling, always looking for that elusive factual evidence. I have found what I need to believe, and each year I see that my theories are closer to factual, but, I will never be able to prove it till that final day when everyone can prove it. However, everyone sees things differently. Different interpretations, different assumptions, different needs to bend the words to what "they" want. And I'm the same! I hope for a certain translation, thus that is my focus, that is my target. If I hit the target I feel vindicated, if not, well, at least I know I'm closer to the truth. But we all step out with a "guess", the wise ones validate it, the others live on faith till it can be refuted in easy to understand words, and still others, the foolish, close their eyes, and refuse to see, hoping (guessing) that all religion is fabricated.

Crowds are actually pretty good at (some kinds of) guessing games:

"A classic demonstration of group intelligence is the jelly-beans-in-the-jar experiment, in which invariably the group's estimate is superior to the vast majority of the individual guesses. When finance professor Jack Treynor ran the experiment in his class with a jar that held 850 beans, the group estimate was 871. Only one of the fifty-six people in the class made a better guess."

I think so. Depending what you believe in, some people want to believe in certain religions but then they get unsure, they might want to believe in Buuddahs but then the christian side says if you dont believe in God you will go to hell when you die. So what do you do?

I believe in God personally and have no doubt about him, but others have their opinions and can get really confused for what religion they should follow. I believe he's real but for all I know he might not be and I should have believed in some other religion, or none at all and be athiest! But it all takes faith and the dictionary defines faith as a strong personal belief in something. So in a way, its a guess.

There's an old game where they take a bean and put it under a cup and move them all around and you've got to guess which cup the bean is under-that's kind of like religion. There's only one way we'll ever know for sure what stories were true, when we die. Anything else is a believe at your own risk kind of thing.

Religion is the world's most dangerous guessing game.

I mean, it's awkward to talk about, not socially acceptable to be fanatic about unless you're in church/temple/wherever or with friends you know are okay with it...

And good goodness! if you get in a fight with someone about religion you will probably be aching for a while.

You know, I have the feeling I'm not really answering this... I'm kinda going off topic too...

Oh well! I'd say YES. We're guessing about things we can't know upon Earth, I believe. (I'm agnostic.)

Goodbye then. *waves delicately*

It is no guessing game, at least not for me, because I know the truth.. and the truth is that religions are inventions of man.. faith is a creation of God.. There is a God..I know it and I can prove it.. there are many religions and as a result, there are many confused people.. There are no religious divisons in God.. if you have the facts.. there is no guessing..

To me it sounds like real life Dungeons & Dragons. Or perhaps a tax exempt weekly Star Wars convention.

You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. Jer 29:13

Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the LORD, and he will have mercy on him, and to our God, for he will freely pardon. Is 55:6,7
