RAR is a file compression format. You need to install a program that will extract the file(s) from within the RAR file. A quick search on google or yahoo will result in plenty of tools.

This does not mean you have what you seek. Do not run any .exe file that may be extracted from the rar file. This could be a virus or trojan program. If you are lucky you have the ISO you seek or an ISO.

A rar file is an compressed file that can hold any kind of a file. Think of rar as being an envelope with a file(s) inside it. You have to use a program like WinRAR to open the rar file and get the real file(s) out of it. Hopefully the file inside will be an ISO. But there is no way to convert a rar file into an ISO (or any other kind) of file, as it is just the envelope, not the actual file.

a .rar is a compressed file. First, you want to uncompress it using a program such as 7-zip, or winrar. These are both free programs, but 7-zip is better.
Download and install 7-zip from here(the exe version): http://www.7-zip.org/download.html
Then right click on the rar file, go to the 7-zip menu, and extract it.

Then, you want to burn it to ISO. For that, you need another program. If you have a cd-burning program already, you can burn it to ISO using that. If not, use express burn, a free program that you can download to do this.

you have to first extract the .iso file from the .rar

use WinRar for this http://www.rarlabs.com

then burn the .iso onto a regular old CD-R

Nero or any other CD burning software will do the trick for this
