Why is distilled water important to use when using the Maxi-Glide?

I want to straighten my hair tonight, and I just wanted to know if I had to use distilled water in the water chamber.

If this is a device heats and vaporizes the water (makes steam) if you use regular (not distilled) water, it will leave minerals behind which will eventually accumulate and might damage the unit
