The only real british sitcoms I've seen are My Family and Coupling
I find them to be very funny, but a little repetitive...with a strange fascination with tights. Maybe tights means something different in Britain because us here in the U.S. don't really find anything great about stockings....
All in all very funny, because American sitcoms are far too cheerful to be realistic at all, and British sarcasm is very entertaining. :)

I like British comedies like Are you Being Served, Allo Allo, Hi-de-hi, You Rang M'lord, Oh Dr Beeching, Black Books, Spaced, Bless This House, Piglet Files, Red Dwarf, Man About the House, George & Mildred, Robin's Nest, George & the Dragon, Two in Clover, Black Adder, the film Calcium Kid, comedies from Ealing and the Carry On films among others because I like good comedy.
Unfortunately I have not had the chance to watch Only Fools and Horses but from what I read it us up my alley.

I'm not a fan of "Only Fools..."
I like "Red Dwarf" "Fawlty Towers" "Are You Being Served"-- the older stuff...
I can even get into "Vicar of Dibley" and some of the more recent stuff that comes over on PBS.
I like the dialogue, I like the wild and wacky situations that develop, and I like the determination with which the characters plow forward in the face of utter failure or overwhelming odds.
I don't like ones like "Keeping Up Appearances" or any show where there seems to be just one joke hammered into the viewrs' heads 23 times an episode.

British comedy makes you snort so perplexing you moist your self. American comedy would nicely be witty, yet customarily it is in simple terms created from sarcasm. American sitcoms look to consistently artwork out nicely, however the British comedy, the characters will attempt in ineffective for a appropriate finishing, something that never comes, and finally ends up being even funnier.

I LOVE British sitcoms.
They are genuinely funny, whereas American comedies are all so blah and predictable.
We mostly get the older ones here, but that's ok ..I love them anyway.
Some of my faves are Fawlty Towers, Father Ted, Keeping Up Appearances, and Are You Being Served?. The Office was very good too.
Please send more!
