He means that he still wants to have sex w/ you, but he wants to be w/ other women, too. Don't fall for that lie!

It likely means he's checking out other options, which he cannot do when you two are a couple or that's cheating. If he does it when you are broken up then he's not doing anything 'wrong' even if you are choosing to still sleep with him. If he can't find anything better or whatever else he is pursuing doesn't workout, he'll probably come back to you (at least for a while).
Of course, I can't know if that is the situation, but it's not that uncommon so is my first guess. If he really loved you, he wouldn't need a break from the relationship, just perhaps a little more time to himself.

First of all, stop sleeping with him. Second, if someone loves you they don't need a "break".
That line is the kiss of death. A "break" from what exactly? It's more like he wants to go out with other women (or already has). Time to be honest with yourself and end this now so you can heal and move on. The more you prolong it, the more hurt you will be in the long run.

he wants to break up with you, but doesn't want to give up all the advantages of being in a relationship (i.e. hanging out, sleeping together). If you ask me, he's using you. He wants the sex and companionship but doesn't want to be tied down/get seriously emotionally involved. If this what you want too, then fine. If not, then you need to decide if you're okay with how things are now or if you can either be boyfriend/girlfriend or nothing at all. it all depends on what you're willing to settle with, and what you're not.

Well when he wants a break either he wants to break it up without hurting you or maybe he like another person and wants to see which one he could put up with more which one seems better to him. But you are making a mistake by sleeping with him cause that gives him the idea that he can come to you whenever he wants to have sex cause he isn't getting any from anyone else.

Maybe he just wants to see other people because he might not be sure if he really wants to be with you. I don't think that you should sleep together if he wants a break, that's not healthy for any of you.
You should get a break from it too, maybe see some other people, and see how it is. If you don't like it, and if he doesn't like it, then maybe you'll both know that you were ment for each other.

if you want him back, you need to stop sleeping with him, have you ever heard the phrase "he won't be buy the cow if he's getting the milk for free?" In his mind why should he go back to you, he's still getting the benefits of a relationship but not a commitment. I am sorry if I sound so harsh, but I've been there with the guy I lost my virginity to, that's how he treated me too.,

It sounds like he is playing you to be honest with you. I mean... He's pretty much cutting all ties between you two and just going after the sex. If he went out and found someone else he wants to be with, and sleeps with them or whatever he won't consider it cheating because you guys 'were on break' Dump him. He's just using you for sex.

First person is correct. It is just a nicer way, if there is a nice way to break it off with someone. These things, happen. At least, he did it in a nicer way. Happy New Year.

well maybe he really does need a brake, maybe he just thought u guys spend to much time with eachother and needs time to get what he had for u back. or he is just going through something that he needs time alone to figerthings out. i have a friend who is going through the samething and they still act like their together, but he has alot of things that is on his mind that he needed to be alone with that did not have to do with my frien. so just think of it as that it does not have to do with u. it his own issues that does not have to do with u.
