There is a little wine and cheese shop by my house. I'd have about 20 guests. We would have a few wines to choose from and a gourmet cheese platter to compliment the wines. I'd also bring in appetizers from another restaurant.

While most of my friends are wine drinkers, I don't want anyone to get bored. I also don't know if there's enough room, even though they insist there is.

Opinions, please!

It's a small wine and cheese shop, but I would like to incorporate some other kind of entertainment so guests do not get bored. Any suggestions??

And to the person who suggested dancing after, that's the plan :)

Sounds like a ton of fun! I don't know if you're into it or not, but maybe you could go dancing or something after the wine & cheese tasting... you know, let loose!

If the manager is a wine expert, have him conduct an actual wine tasting with these wines, explaining to your guests what to look for and the nuances of each wine, what are good food pairings, etc. It won't take long, and then you can continue your cocktail party before going dancing. Make sure there are some non alcoholic (or at least non-wine) beverages for the non wine drinkers. Your friends are all adults. Cocktail receptions shouldn't be boring..

that sounds like a plan.
since your planning an event there, see if the manager would be willing to bring in music for your guest.

It sounds like a great idea. Will you bring the birthday cake and
Will they play some music?
It will be a great way to celebrate a 29th birthday.

Best thing to do is throw in some music and game playing...you know, have a few different things going on simulataneously for people to get into; also, keep in mind that people will probably just mingle and talk too....so, keep it relaxed and upbeat...if you are laid back about it, everyone else will be too, so don't forget to have fun on your own birthday!!! :)

Sounds like real fun but try not to use more than three cheeses.
